The Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) and the Ministry of Defense have signed this morning a collaboration agreement that aims to regulate teaching activities, research, technological development as well as other areas of mutual interest for both institutions.
The event took place at the Army's Headquarters in Madrid and was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Army of Earth (Jeme), General Francisco Javier Varela Salas, representing the Ministry of Defense, and the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, among other military authorities and members of the educational institution.
After the signing of the collaboration agreement, the Army Chief of Staff showed his conviction that its implementation will improve academic training and promote a culture of defense.
This allowed him to explain that the Armed Forces's mission is to "safeguard national interests wherever necessary."
At the same time, he stressed that the signing of the agreement opens the door to a "fruitful" and "sincere" collaboration between Defense and the UCAM.
For his part, the president of the Catholic University of Murcia, José Luis Mendoza stressed the honor for UCAM to collaborate with the Ministry of Defense, in what concerns the start of "a new stage" for the teaching institution that chairs .
José Luis Mendoza also stressed that he puts "the Defense Service" to the professionals and facilities of UCAM, a university that has been working with this Ministry through the Master's Degree in Military Law, unique in Spain, and has already counted with a first batch of graduates.
In addition, the educational institution has also provided language training to the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regime No. 73, and to the Official School of Marine Infantry through courses in Leadership.
