Prior to the development of this project will be carried out the work of different service providers to renew their networks.

Thus, at the beginning of November Aguas de Murcia, Redexis and Iberdrola will carry out their corresponding works in order that they finish before the paving work.

Aguas de Murcia will execute the renovation of the supply networks as the current ones present a high degree of obsolescence and deterioration, obtaining with the projected works the necessary infrastructure for an improvement in the potable water supply of the houses located in the zone.

As for the sanitation networks in this area, these are in good condition.

The main collectors show few signs of deterioration so the actions in this aspect will focus on the replacement of the attacks.

The period of execution of the works is two months.

For its part, Redexis will work on the interconnection of two existing networks, one of them at the corner of Santa Clara Street with Echegaray Street and the other at Alfonso X, next to the Claras.

The objective of this work is to mesh the networks of the area, which guarantees a better service to all users especially in case of failure.

Finally, Iberdrola will introduce a new network from the neighborhoods of Claras to Alfonso X before Plaza Captesa.

The objective of this work is to improve the service offered.

Both the works of Redexis and those of Iberdrola will be extended for approximately one week.

For the execution of all these works are going to coordinate the actions of the different companies in order to avoid intermittent cuts of streets and cause the least possible annoyance to the citizens.

Subsequently, according to the forecasts after Christmas, will begin the execution of the project of pedestrianization of the avenue that will be extended during ten months and whose maximum budget of 3,199,312 euros.

The works of this first phase, will be executed in three sequential times: west carriageway (Santa Clara), east carriageway (Santa Ana) and central walkway, allowing in this way that there are always two areas available for pedestrian and road traffic.

This project will allow the incorporation of more than 14,000 square meters of new pedestrian area, providing linearity to the entire walk from Santo Domingo to Plaza Circular.

The action will be carried out in two phases: Phase I, which has already been tendered, and which comprises from Santo Domingo to Jaime I (with an area of 7,600 m2), and Phase II (6,800 m2) from Jaime I to La Circular.

Participation has been the axis that has articulated the process of project design, integrating the proposals and allegations of the different neighborhood and associative groups, and consensuando them with the technical observations of the Official Association of Architects of the Region and the General Directorate of Cultural Property .

This will create a huge pedestrian itinerary of about 50,000 square meters, in the historic center of the city from La Glorieta to Circular Square, crossing Plaza Belluga, Trapería, Santo Domingo and Alfonso X.

This initiative will allow Alfonso X Avenue a total pedestrianization of the space that restricts the traffic of vehicles to residents, public transport (taxis), school zone and charge-unloading in regulated hours, circulating in a single direction towards Santo Domingo along the road west, the one next to the church of Las Claras.

The current terraced area will be reconfigured without increasing it and a new system of intelligent waste collection and adaptable low power LED lighting will be implemented.

With all this is sought to reduce noise and pollution on this axis providing greater tranquility neighborhood, while enabling new spaces for public stay and walk

The project includes the habilitation of a two-way bike path that will run along the current western road.

Likewise, the current public bicycle rental system will be maintained in the immediate vicinity of the new Avenue.

Likewise, the existing trees will be maintained along the whole walk, more specimens will be planted (orange trees that will cross all the west side and also palm trees) and shrub vegetation in beds like 'orchards' in the east side, arriving at tripling the current vegetation and creating new spaces of natural shade.

The pavement materials of the whole avenue will be based on stone in different formats and textures, a material of great resistance and formal qualities.

It should be remembered that this project has been exposed in a participatory process through which the proposals and allegations of the different neighborhood and associative groups, political groups, the Ecologistas en Acción Association and other individuals have been integrated, consensuating them with the technical observations of the College Officer of Architects of the Region and the General Directorate of Cultural Property.
