Social Rights encourages senior citizens of the municipality of Murcia to improve their training in road safety (02/10/2017)

The Council of Social Rights, through its owner Conchita Ruiz, presented this morning the "Seniors and Road Safety", which encourages those over 65 to recycle their knowledge of behavior as drivers and pedestrians in order to reduce the number of incidents.

Conchita Ruiz, who has been accompanied by the president of the Driving Association of Murcia, Enrique Lorca, stressed the importance of "offering information to people over 65, since from these ages there is an increase in distractions at the wheel, caused by the decline in reflexes. "

The recycling courses, such as the one that will be carried out on October 10, the Cajamar Culture Hall, allow to acquire skills with the vehicle, to know the new elements that include these, even make available to the elderly how to face different road elements, such as roundabouts.

A day with which it will be possible to "solve the doubts of the drivers as much on the renewal of the driving license as on the effects that the medication can provoke on the reflexes or how to act when filling a friendly part after an accident "explained the Councilor for Social Rights.

"It is noteworthy that between 2009 and 2014, according to a report by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the deceased over 65 years have increased 47% in interurban roads and 266% in urban roads, which makes it even more necessary celebration of this type of meetings, "highlighted in his speech the president of the Driving Association of Murcia, Enrique Lorca.

The Mayor José Ballesta Germán will inaugurate the day, which will be attended by the councilor of traffic and public safety, Lola Sánchez and the interventions of the Provincial Traffic Chief, Deputy Inspector Head of Local Police, experts in road safety Foundation CNAE or the Secretary General of the Spanish Association of Psychic Medical Centers (ASECEMP).

This novelty is part of the first event organized in the Region of Murcia dedicated entirely for a week to road safety, Vial Week.

One week, from 4 to 11 October, which aims to disseminate citizen safety and road safety rules, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the road operators, as well as to refresh the specific standards regarding mobility and transportation.
