The Municipal Socialist Group today challenged the mayor, José Ballesta, to defend this afternoon, during the board of directors of the Murcia High Speed ​​Society, the motion presented by all the opposition and approved in plenary last Thursday in favor of the burial of the train tracks.

In this regard, Councilwoman Begoña García Retegui, who will participate as a member of the council this afternoon at the meeting, recalled that during the debate on that motion "the PP voted against, did not even abstain, rejected the proposal of the opposition and left his position clearly exposed and is that the burial is for the municipal government team a secondary issue.

He added that "if after several weeks of rallies and demonstrations and after tens of thousands of citizens opposed to the arrival of the AVE on the surface, the PP is determined not to move and to act against the decision in plenary we would be facing a despot situation and cacique ".

Therefore, the councilor warned that "we will be alert this afternoon for the mayor to defend the agreement adopted. For our part we will not allow it to remain on paper wet."

He also explained that "we are checking these days how the performance of the PP leads us to situations esperpénticas not only do not solve the problems, nor respond to the demands of citizens, but feed and fatten those problems."

In the recent Plenary, the Socialist Group demanded the presentation of a clear project, containing both funding and implementation deadlines.

"A project that is being drafted and that there is nothing definitive," he said, adding that "the underground tunnel has to start before the arrival of the AVE."

The board of directors of the Sociedad Murcia Alta Velocidad, of which the mayor is first vice-president and the PSOE is the only opposition group represented, meets this afternoon from 16.30h for the first time since January 4, 2016 , "another example of the laziness that has surrounded the whole project of the arrival of the AVE to Murcia," added García Retegui.
