Three free routes and a concert will commemorate World Tourism Day (25/09/2017)

The Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture, headed by Jesús Pacheco, has organized three routes to mark World Tourism Day whose motto of this edition is 'Sustainable tourism as a development tool'.

Therefore a series of visits by the municipality will be held to "raise awareness of the socio-economic and cultural importance of tourism, to show the cultural and natural heritage to Murcia and tourists to contribute to knowledge, revaluation and respect towards the same, being a good ambassador of their land and raising awareness of the importance and respect for the multiculturality of a city where for centuries they have lived and lived different cultures, "explained Pacheco.

The first of the selected itineraries, scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday 27 at 12 o'clock, is 'Murcia Past and Present' in which it will be interpreted how the city has evolved over the last 300 years, showing through lithographs, paintings and photographs old constructions of past ages.

This visit will visit different areas such as the Palace of Riquelme, Huerto de las Bombas, Teatro Romea, Contrast of the Silk, Camarín de la Aurora, or the College of San Leandro and other spaces where with images and postcards, magazine reviews and books, or descriptions of veterans, will explain how Murcia was.

Thus, mention will be made of buildings that were located in the Segura River Mills, the Remo Club, Veronese Convent, Victoria Hotel, the former Teatro Romea (before the fire) or the Palacio de los Vélez.

The itinerary will begin at 12 noon in the Tourist Office in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga and will visit Glorieta de España, Puente Viejo, Almudí Palace, Santa Catalina Square, Jabonerías Street, Plaza del Teatro Romea, Callejón de la Aurora and Plaza de Santo Domingo.

Another of the proposed routes is 'Rincones y morumbes de la Huerta del Segura', which will also lead the participants to the Segura River Crossroads on Wednesday, but appreciating before the Jerónimos Monastery, the Ñora River, or the surroundings of the Powder factory.

During the bus ride the guide will explain the irrigation system of ditches, bracers and tacks of the Vega Media, the meanders and corners of the river Segura, tower houses and barracks, or the hijuela, desperfollo and traditional games of the Orchard.

The meeting point will be the bus stop at La Glorieta at 5 pm.

Finally, on Saturday 30, from 8.30 to 13.30 hours, an interpretive hiking route will be held, which will consist of an ascent to the highest point of the Regional Park of El Valle and Carrascoy, called 'El Relojero' located 616 meters from the point of departure that will be the visitor center La Luz.

The route offers wonderful views of the city of Murcia as well as different rocky formations typical of the Mediterranean sierras, as well as its characteristic flora and fauna.

The itinerary will run through the Barranco de los Sordo making a stop at Mirador Navetas, to contemplate the wonderful views.

Also on Saturday, and within the cycle 'Majal Blanco Sounds' will be held a concert of folk with the performance of Juan José Robles from 20 hours in the Classroom of the Majal.

Those interested in attending must reserve seats through the telephone number of Ecoespuña 968 63 62 05. The registration period will be open from two weeks before the performance until three days before the date of each concert.

The maximum capacity is 55 seats and will be priced at 10 euros.

A bus will pick up those interested in the Glorieta de España, in front of the Town Hall, and will stop at the Plaza de las Moreras in Torreguil (Sangonera la Verde) to finish the journey in the Aula de la Naturaleza del Majal Blanco, where they will be made a visit by the place to the assistants.
