NOW MURCIA criticizes the unnecessary replacement of numerous traffic signs on a road "with serious deficiencies in other matters".
It is the RM-611 road in the stretches of El Reguerón and El Palmar, "known by all Murcia because every time it rains it floods and creates a real chaos."
In this sense, Councilor Alicia Morales points out that "public administrations have the obligation to prioritize when making investments. It does not make sense for a road to replace traffic signs that are in perfect condition and with their current life span , while allowing the traffic and safety problems generated by the rains. "
The mayor says that "the users of this road have been able to verify in the last days how several dozens of traffic signals were duplicated, due to the actions of reposition of traffic signals, that have included the unnecessary replacement of units that were inside his period of life and in perfect condition ".
"Many of these signs that are being replaced are from the years 2009, 2012 and even 2014, as indicated by the reference stickers they have on their back," he adds, "and have a useful life that reaches 2025. both, this same road is suffering floods and traffic restrictions every time that occur episodes of rain, which also affect the ambulances that go to both the Arrixaca and the psychiatric hospital Román Alberca.
Morales concludes that "from Now Murcia we consider that we must prioritize the investments and undertake the improvements that this road really needs, replacing the signals, but only the necessary ones."
