The Governing Board meets the three final steps to develop the strategy of city endowed with 14.7 million euros of European funds (22/09/2017)

Innovation + Tradition.

In the same process in which the European aid is assumed, the City Council initiates the commitment to contribute 20% more in terms of co-financing.

Likewise, it has given the green light to the procedure manual that will be used to regulate the way to manage all operations and, thirdly, the Governing Board has approved the commitment to assume functions.

There are three basic and essential requirements for implementing sustainable and integrated urban development strategic projects to be co-financed through the ERDF program.

The Murcia Strategy was recognized as one of the best in Spain in the resolution of the second call that was announced last July, which was attended by 185 municipalities, deputations and mancomunidades of all Spain.

This is an important investment that will make it possible to materialize the projects and actions of transformation of the municipality, applied in six lines of action of urban development.

These include sustainable mobility initiatives, which may include bicycle lanes, reinforcement and improvement in urban transport and public and private transport interchanges;

valorization of urban patrimonial elements, such as the Old Jail and the Orchard;

'Murcia River';

the physical, economic and social regeneration of neighborhoods;

a line for training and employability;

and one that complements Smart Cities initiatives or smart cities.

Specifically, the municipality will receive a total investment of 17.5 million euros for the development of the project 'IT Murcia: Innovation and Tradition', of which 14.7 million (80% of the total investment) corresponds to the Feder Funds the remaining 20% ​​will be municipal co-financing.
