Students of the UCAM, first national award for an application that detects the CiberBullying in social networks (21/09/2017)

Three students from the Catholic University of Murcia have won the first prize at the Big Day HackForGood - an event where talent and innovation are sought and rewarded - with an application that detects, prevents and combats cyberbullying in social networks .

Since the Telefónica company launched a new edition of the HackForGood event last March, 1500 social hackers have gathered throughout the Spanish geography to overcome the levels of development of the various projects to reach a very competitive end.

The winning proposal SAMEBullying has been promoted from the Technological Institute of Murcia of the Catholic University since the beginning of this competition.

It is a social application that develops artificial intelligence acting in social networks with the aim of considering prevention as the key to this initiative.

The application was presented yesterday in the Telephone Space of Madrid before the representatives of the different Chairs of this telephone company and a group of startups incubators in order to capture talent and innovation in the ideas presented.

Javier Iniesta Fernández, student of the Degree in Computer Engineering, Paloma Teruel Bastida, of the degree in Labor Relations and Human Resources and Juan Fernando Hernández Legs, an expert in marketing and commercial management, all of them at UCAM, are members of the SAMEBullying team and the winners of the first national prize 2017. An award consisting of a € 8,000 endowment and the prestigious Telefónica Open Future award that will enable them to continue to develop and grow their project under Wayra, the most important corporate startups accelerator with international projection.
