Ortiz calls for 'calmness, tranquility and mutual respect because that is the basis of democracy' ' (15/09/2017)

'After many years, Murcia will see a reality disappear that exists and is now: a wall, which with the AVE will be eliminated'

The Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, has called for "we all have a feeling of calm, tranquility and mutual respect."

Following the incidents recorded last night alongside the train tracks, he said that "within that mutual respect, demonstrations, cheering and saying everything you want can be done, but at the same time it is necessary to respect the opinion of others, because that is the basis of democracy.

Ortiz said that from the Municipal Corporation 'we mourn the facts produced because everyone has the right to demonstration and concentration, and the rest of citizens to the safety of the roads, so it is necessary to reconcile both freedoms.

Unfortunately we believe that it has not been so.

Roque Ortiz also made an appeal 'to join efforts to reassure the situation'.

The councilman described as "quite exemplary" the camping last days spent by the Platform Prosoterramiento, and there was no problem or complaint of anyone, but warned that 'things later drifted towards other events because, obviously, burning a bulldozer is an act criminal'.

On the other hand, he lamented that 'a specific event is tarnishing a historic decision for Murcia' and stressed that 'the Minister of Public Works yesterday confirmed, formally and publicly, the arrival of the AVE underground to the station of El Carmen.

In this way, and after many years, 'Murcia will see a reality disappear that exists and is now: a wall.

What we want to achieve is its elimination, "said Ortiz, who reiterated that there are data that can not be rebutted:" The burial stage of the Carmen station coincides with the arrival of the underground AVE, also ensuring that the alternative railway platform will disappear'.

Lastly, the Councilor for Development recalled that the Mayor said yesterday that the start of burial works in Senda de los Garres will begin before the AVE arrives in Murcia.
