A Unimar course will start in assisted animal therapies (13/09/2017)

"Initiation to assisted animal therapies: a multispecies approach" is the title of a course at the International University of the Sea-Campus Mare Nostrum to be held between 22 and 24 September at the University Social Center of the University of Murcia.

The Animal-Assisted Therapies constitute a therapeutic tool that is currently used as a complement to conventional therapies in the treatment of physical and psychic diseases.

Likewise, these types of therapies are used as support in programs to reintegrate people at risk of social exclusion, emotional support in traumatic situations, etc.

This course will teach basic and applied knowledge in this field, through theoretical and practical sessions in different animal species: dogs, horses, sea lions, giraffes, etc.

The course will be taught by the Foundation Centauro Quiron (Center for comprehensive rehabilitation and equestrian therapies) of Murcia, in addition, will participate in the zoo of Terra Natura Murcia.

All the practical sessions of the course will be developed at the headquarters of both entities (Centauro Quiron and Terra Natura Murcia), where the therapies are usually done, so that the students know the real environment and context where the therapies with animals take place .

The activity is directed by María Dolores Ayala Florenciano, consists of 30 hours, and those who enroll will be entitled to 3 Free Setup Credits or 1 CRAU Credit.
