More than 400 people will be part of the special device designed by the City Hall on the occasion of the Romería (11/09/2017)

It is coordinated by the councils of Promotion, Traffic and Citizen Security, and Employment, Tourism and Culture, and with it is intended to guarantee security and transportation for the 800,000 people who will accompany the Virgen de la Fuensanta on their return to the sanctuary, in addition of the immediate cleaning of the environment

The massive presence of citizens participating in the Pilgrimage of Fuensanta obliges the City Council to design a special device in charge of the councils of Development, Traffic and Citizen Security, and Employment, Tourism and Culture, whose details have informed this morning those responsible , Roque Ortiz, Lola Sánchez and Jesús Pacheco.

The Pilgrimage of September is one of the events that brings together more people than every year, reaching an approximate figure of 800,000 people, for which the City Council puts in place a special team designed to provide security to the attendees, accessible transportation and an immediate service for the collection of waste and cleaning of the whole environment.

In total, there will be more than 400 workers of the City Council and its concession companies responsible for work related to this event.

In this way, the Department of Traffic and Citizen Security, directed by Lola Sánchez, has prepared a security plan that includes from the procession escort to the Virgen de la Fuensanta, traffic control and surveillance in the city, and control of traffic and surveillance in the Sanctuary area and access.

This will require the mobilization of 208 police officers, 26 police officers, 32 motorcycles and 3 cranes.

In addition, a Mobile Office of Citizen Assistance for the Local Police will be installed, along with the Fuensanta Sanctuary.

For its part, the Fire Service will have 34 troops placing a unit between the Sanctuary and the Teatinos, in front of the old Seminary, another in the esplanade of the Sanctuary and a third in the Cresta del Gallo.

Bracelets for children

Civil Protection will have 56 volunteers and will install two field hospitals, one at the junction called La Labrador, specifically at Finca de la Cierva with a basic life support ambulance, and another at the Teatinos crossing.

During the tour there will be mobile health assistance points with an SVB ambulance of the Red Cross at the crossing of the route with Ronda Sur, crossing the route with Reguerón lane and crossing the route with Costera Sur.

There will be a fixed health care point (with a field hospital, ambulance SVA and a psychosocial care tent), from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm in the labrador crossing (La Fuensanta street with alley of the vulture , opposite the convent of Discalced Carmelites).

Also in the esplanade of La Fuensanta (parking area) will be located a health post of Red Cross composed of 2 field hospitals, a command post and transmissions of Civil Protection and a tent of assistance to Romeros with 3 volunteers.

In the Explanada of the magazine (road of the Fuensanta to 200 m direction to cross crest of the rooster) will be placed a position of Civil Protection with a field hospital, an ambulance SVA, a vehicle of rapid sanitary intervention, a carp of Psychosocial Attention and a tent of the Intervention and Rescue Group composed of 8 volunteers.

During the tour, volunteer couples will be arranged in Floridablanca garden, Cruce Sur Sur, Cruce del reguerón, south coast crossing, and along the route will support the association ASEMUR with 6 volunteers with backpacks kit.

In the esplanade of the Fuensanta will be asked a tent to distribute bracelets for the children in which to indicate its name and telephone number to facilitate its location in case of loss of the minor.

Special public transport service

As for the public transport, it will also adapt to the needs, modifying routes and habitual schedules of buses.

Thus, the stop will be located in Alameda de Colón, in the city, and in Calle Pintor Antonio Roca Martínez, in Algezares, from where they will return once the Virgin has begun the ascent to the Sanctuary.

Latbus has established a special service Romería from different districts and towns to Murcia that will be continuous until 8 hours depending on the demand of travelers, The rest of day will be made the schedule of holidays.

There will be continuous service between Murcia (garden of Floridablanca) and Algezares from 7 hours.

After the arrival of the Virgin there will also be continuous service from Algezares to Murcia (Floridablanca garden), La Alberca, El Palmar, San Ginés, Era Alta, Alcantarilla, Sangonera la Verde, Los Garres, San Jose de la Vega, Beniaján, El Secano, El Bojar, Torreagüera, Los Ramos, Zeneta and El Mojón.

Changes in circulation

The cuts or restrictions of traffic during this night and tomorrow will be numerous, especially in the Highway of Algezares, as well as the districts of Los Garres, Santo Ángel and La Alberca.

In order to give continuity to the citizen awareness campaigns carried out by the City Council, at the beginning of the climb to the mountain a caravan will be placed, where a team will distribute 10,000 backpacks from the campaign 'There are still a few, but they are very noticeable;

For its part, the Department of Commerce, Organization and Institutional Relations has granted 77 authorizations of street vending from the street Pío XII to the road to the Sanctuary.

Its installation will be in any case in those places that do not hinder the free transit of people and vehicles of urgency, that is to say outside the road and places of passage, and always under the supervision and indications of the Local Police.

In any case, the installation of posts that lack the appropriate sales license will not be authorized.

What's New in Romería '17

It is necessary to remember that the day of the Pilgrimage of tomorrow will have different news.
