Now Murcia asks for explanations to Pacheco by the closing of the pavilions 1 and 2 of the Artillery Quarters "and the total lack of information" (11/09/2017)

The municipal group has requested written information on the rehabilitation works, the scheduling of activities and the requests for assignment of use received

NOW MURCIA has today asked for explanations to Councilor for Culture, Jesús Pacheco, for the closure of Halls 1 and 2 of the Artillery Barracks and their absence of activities, as well as for "the total lack of information, 'brand of the house Pacheco' , offered to the groups linked to the Barracks and to all citizens. "

After complaints by Now Murcia, at the end of last June, that there would be no programming in Hall 2 in the last quarter of the year, Pacheco announced that the motive was a rehabilitation works, "however", denounces Alicia Morales , "the pavilion is still without programming and nothing is known about those works announced by Pacheco."

The spokeswoman for Now Murcia stresses that "to date the schedule for the execution of the works in the Artillery Quarters is unknown," adding that "any rehabilitation action must be clear in advance what use is made of the real estate, you can not start rehabilitating buildings without knowing what you are going to allocate. "

Morales also points out that "in these uses you have to consult with neighbors and groups, to contribute their ideas and suggestions" and stresses "the absolute convenience of having the rehabilitation works continue self-managed activity in the pavilions by collectives and neighbors ".

Morales recalls that "Pavilions 1 and 2 of Artillery Barracks base their programming on the work carried out by various groups, which now not only do not have where to develop their activities, but also encounter the total lack of sensitivity of the councilor of Culture, which keeps them uninformed and apart from everything. "

The spokeswoman for Now Murcia points out that "the problem is not only the lack of programming and information, but also the physical state of the pavilions, with facades left by the hand of God that pitiful, despite the fact that we find ourselves before one of the most important socio-cultural complexes of the district of Carmen and of the whole municipality ".

About Hall 1, Morales points out that "it had to be operational from January 2016, although the 425,000 euros foreseen for that infrastructure in the 2016 budget are still being executed and not executed". give the artillery barracks, "says the councilor," with much of its buildings in a state of neglect despite the scarcity of cultural infrastructure in the neighborhood of Carmen, and with two of its enclosed pavilions.

"The alleged works of Pavilion 2 should have been planned during this summer so as not to interrupt cultural activity in September," Morales says, "or have rehabilitated Hall 1 in all this time to transfer there the leisure offer. once again in evidence is the absolute improvisation of the Government of Ballesta ".

For these reasons, Now Murcia has written today to the Councilor of Culture to demand information from the actions carried out since last June in the face of the rehabilitation of the halls of the Artillery Barracks.

Information has also been requested from the actions carried out since last June for the preparation of the cultural programming of the Artillery Barracks for the 2017/2018 academic year and a copy of the program of activities planned for this quarter.

The municipal group has also addressed the mayor of Education and Heritage to request information on requests for assignment of use of barracks pavilions received by the City, as well as on the status of processing of such requests for assignment, if any.
