More than 200 Local Police officers will guarantee security in the Pilgrimage of Fuensanta (10/09/2017)

The Department of Traffic and Public Safety, directed by Lola Sánchez, has prepared a complete security device for the Day of Pilgrimage.

Thus, Monday morning, September 11, from the early hours of the morning a security device will be established for the total control of the area, cutting off the access traffic when the situation requires it.

This will require 84 policemen, 16 radio patrols and a crane.

Also present the Fire Service, Environmental Agents and Civil Protection.

On the day of the Pilgrimage, on September 12, the Local Police Service will be ready for the Virgen de la Fuensanta processional escort, traffic control and surveillance in the city, and traffic control and surveillance in the Sanctuary area and Access

For this will be available 208 Police, 26 police cars, 32 motorcycles and 3 cranes.

Next to the esplanade of Sanctuary of the Fuensanta will be installed, from the dawn of the 12 of September, a Mobile Office of Attention to the Citizen of the Local Police of Murcia.

The Fire Service will locate a unit between the Sanctuary and the Teatinos, in front of the old Seminary, and another in the esplanade of the Sanctuary.

The Red Cross will be installed in the esplanade of the Sanctuary and at the crossroads of the Valley to the ascent to the Teatinos.

Civil Protection will mount a service from 6 to 20 hours, with 75 people and 9 vehicles.

This year, in addition, Civil Protection will install two field hospitals, one at the junction called La Labrador, specifically at Finca de la Cierva, with 25 members of health personnel and 1 basic life support ambulance and the other at the crossing of the Teatinos.

The Rescue Service will be located next to the Fire Department, in front of the former Seminary, and will be composed of 8 people, while the bus service, in connection with the Pilgrimage, will have its stop in the city, in Alameda de Colón, and in Algezares, in the street Pintor Antonio Roca Martínez, from where they will return once the Virgin has begun the ascent to the Sanctuary.

Street Cuts

On the occasion of the Pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Our Lady Virgin of Fuensanta, on Tuesday, 12, the following routes will be cut to traffic, without prejudice to possible cuts or traffic restrictions during the night, the eve of the Romería in Carretera de Algezares and environs.

The access to the Sanctuary from Algezares (from the Health Center), and from the intersection of Los Teatinos Urbanization, will be totally cut to traffic (except residents) from the evening / night of the previous day, Monday 11.

The road that connects the square of El Charco, in Santo Angel, with Algezares, total court, from 07.00 hours.

In reverse, that is, from Algezares to the pool, from 08.00 hours.

Traffic will again be allowed, in this area, when the processional entourage is inside the C / Subida al Santuario de la Fuensanta, and the influx of public in the vicinity allows.

Advice to the pilgrims

The Local Police has offered a series of tips for everything to happen normally.

FOR PEDESTRIANS:

Take special care when walking at night.

Always ride along the sidewalk;

IN CASE OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENT:

RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT

Given the current situation of risk of forest fires in our Region, we believe it is necessary to make a special appeal to all pilgrims to exert prudence and responsibility, avoiding any action that could constitute an obvious danger in this regard.

Do not throw any butts on the floor or start a fire.

Take care of the environment.

Do not throw any trash.

The Fuensanta Sanctuary and the Valley is a protected area of ​​maximum environmental interest.

Dispose of waste and especially waste in the approved containers.

With regard to strollers, only those places that do not impede the free transit of people and emergency vehicles, that is to say, outside the roadways and places of passage, and provided they have the proper authorization issued by the Department of Commerce, Organization and Institutional Relations.
