Conchita Ruiz and Jesús Pacheco, responsible for the areas of Social Rights and Employment, Tourism and Culture, participated this morning in the "Women in the Fair" tour, an urban itinerary organized with the intention of making visible the role of women in these celebrations and, in general, in the traditional celebrations of Murcia.

With this initiative, which is part of the 'Feminine Plural' program, the City Council intends to continue promoting equal opportunities between genders and recognition of the role women have played throughout the history of the city of Murcia.

Along this guided tour has been presented part of the local heritage, touring public spaces and buildings, such as the Bullring, Cathedral and Garden Malecón, making an account of the history of Murcia in religious celebrations and traditional festivals .

Within these events, women have been present on a secondary plane or directly invisibilized.

With this tour "Women in the Fair" gives prominence to women who from fields as diverse as gastronomy, handicrafts or bullfighting have participated in the creation of the city and have enriched and continue to enrich their cultural heritage.

The tour began in the bullring, after visiting the interior of the Cathedral, ending at the Malecón Garden, one of the emblematic points of the fiestas.
