The Region of Murcia will be in November the world capital of Holy Week (08/09/2017)

Cardinal Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life will represent the Vatican at the III International Congress of Brotherhoods and Fraternities.

The program of events have been presented by the presidents of the UCAM and the Cabildo de Cofradías de Murcia, José Luis Mendoza and Ramón Sánchez Parra;

the bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, José Manuel Lorca Planes;

the President of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, and the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta.

The Catholic University of Murcia and the Cabildo Superior of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods of Murcia organize the third edition of the International Congress of Brotherhoods and Fraternities, which will be held from 8 to 12 November under the title 'Saved by the Cross of Christ', and whose poster announcer is the work of artists Muher.

It should be noted that the Vatican appointed the UCAM permanent headquarters for the celebration of this congress.

José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, thanked for the commitment of the various institutions, remembering that evangelization is fundamental in the UCAM, which has already organized 17 international congresses with the collaboration of the Vatican, and was Pope John Paul II " who encouraged us to support the Holy Week ", this congress being a historic event that will have a great worldwide impact.

The president of the Cabildo Superior of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods, Ramón Sánchez Parra, emphasized the great procession, with steps of different cities of the Region or the exhibitions of Saura Mira, Colors of the Holy Week or the Splendor of the Cross.

Also will be represented the sacred drama 'Jesus of Nazareth', in the Teatro Romea, production of the UCAM, with more than 150 people between choir, actors and dancers, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of the Catholic University.

The president of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, began his speech emphasizing that "he should be here because of the importance of the congress, and wanted to be here as a man who professes the Catholic faith."

López Miras influenced the worldwide repercussion that Murcia will have thanks to this congress, in the fields of culture, tourism and economy.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, has stated that the City Council will be involved for the good development of the Congress and that the images, coming from many places in the Region, will be attended and cared for by the noble people of the municipality of Murcia, highlighting the union, the concord and the identity of the municipalities, being one of the roots its holy weeks.

Procession through the streets of Murcia

The Magna Extraordinary Procession "Saved by the Cross of Christ" will tour the streets of Murcia on Saturday November 11 and will gather steps from different points of the Region such as Murcia, Cieza, Yecla, Caravaca, Santomera or Lorquí.

The first International Congress of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods took place in Seville and the second was in 2007 at UCAM, which repeated ten years after being designated as permanent headquarters.
