The Governing Board approves the projects of 5 social associations to improve the quality of life of Murcia. The largest program is aimed at half a thousand children, young people and women in the neighborhood of Los Almendros. (08/09/2017)

It has also given the green light to collaboration in programs aimed at the integration of people with physical or intellectual disabilities |

Five associations that work to improve the quality of life of people who need more social care have today received the approval of the Government Board, at the proposal of the Department of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz, to develop their projects solidarity

These are the proposals presented by Fundación AFIM, Full Inclusion and associations AMUPHEB, Auxilia Murcia and Los Almendros.

The total amount of the grants amounts to € 58,000 and the beneficiaries of the projects will be over 1,150 people.

The agreement with the Association of Sociocultural Promotion Los Almendros , for which the City Council will provide a grant of € 25,000, aims to develop a series of activities aimed at the entire population of the neighborhood, making special impact on the most vulnerable sectors, such as childhood, adolescence-youth and women.

Specifically, these projects are:

- Playroom, Animation and Leisure.

Aimed at 25 children aged 5 to 12 years.

- Children's Week.

Aimed at all children in the neighborhood aged between 3 and 16 years.

80 participants.

- Women's Week.

Activities aimed at women in the neighborhood, with 50 participants.

- Cultural week.

Cultural activities aimed at the entire population, in general, the neighborhood and the surrounding area.

200 participants.

- Summer school.

Activity organized as a continuity to the library and directed to 25 children between 5 and 12 years.

- Excursions.

Departures that take place throughout the year and include cultural activities and leisure and free time, aimed at 30 children and 40 adults in the neighborhood.

- Integral Training for Women.

Formative activities directed to 25 women of the neighborhood and that are developed throughout the year.

- Social work.

Intervention with the entire population, providing information on resources and referral to standardized services.

- Christmas parties.

Activities are conducted aimed at the entire population of the neighborhood, especially affecting children.

- Parade of Kings.

Activity realized the Night of Kings with a cavalcade.

- Relationship with the administration and other groups.

- Volunteering.

Training, coordination and coexistence activities with 20 volunteers who collaborate and participate in the activities.

Meetings are held with them.

Greater autonomy

Likewise, the Department of Social Rights will maintain its collaboration with the Auxilia Association to develop the annual program of activities that serves 61 children and youth with physical disabilities, and their families.

The activities also involved 18 children without disabilities, who are called "companions" and are integrated into the activities organized, and a total of 92 volunteers aged between 18 and 38 years.

The purpose of this work plan is to facilitate and promote the integration of people with physical disabilities, enhancing their autonomy and personal capabilities.

To this end, a volunteer recruitment and training project will be carried out, as well as leisure programs and free time and family respite, as well as workshops on theater and corporal expression and speech therapy, reading and psychology, as well as summer camps .

The City Council contributes to the development of these activities by providing a grant of € 8,000.

Integral home support for people with spina bifida

The Board of Governors also gave the green light to the collaboration agreement with the Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida, AMUPHEB , to promote the project "Home Services and Support Families with children affected by Spina Bifida."

The program, which serves 80 people with disabilities and their families, provides direct and comprehensive psychosocial support and care in the home, preventing crises and / or deterioration, as well as educating in the recovery of healthy living habits (personal hygiene, physical exercise , food, leisure and free time, etc.) and skills that favor and guarantee autonomy in their habitual environment of life, facilitating integration and active participation in society.

Likewise, the program provides a temporary transition housing service adapted to rent, in addition to offering this resource to small groups to work these skills at weekends.

Day center for disabled people in situation of marginalization

The same amount allocated by the Department of Social Rights to collaborate with the Foundation AFIM-Murcia for the development of the day center project for people with disabilities in a situation of social marginalization.

The objective of this intervention is to offer a safe, accessible and adapted habitat adapted to the functional needs of the users, improving their quality of life, favoring their personal development and social integration, thus avoiding the income in unwanted residential centers.

In this way the person is allowed to remain in their family and social environment, leading a life as standardized as possible.

The center offers different services, as well as specific programs of therapeutic intervention and continuous training of professional caregivers, contemplating people with some degree of dependency, the family caregiver and the center itself.

Among its services are basic services - transportation, maintenance and assistance in basic activities of daily living - as well as therapeutic - psychosocial care, occupational therapy and health care -, and cognitive - occupational workshops for tapestries, handicrafts, mold, etc., courses on environmental care, workshop for cognitive stimulation, relaxation and positive thinking, as well as the labor integration service for job search, with job vacancies, on-line training, etc. that one of the main objectives of the foundation is to promote the socio-labor integration of people with disabilities.

During 2017 50 men and 40 women between the ages of 18 and 65 participated in the project.

Rights of persons with intellectual disabilities

Lastly, the Government Board has approved a full inclusion agreement, with a budget of € 9,000, for the development of its annual program of activities aimed at improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy , defend their dignity and their rights.

To this end, the federation promotes four actions:

- Days of transformation of services towards the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.

Directed to about 200 people of the organizations that are part of Full Inclusion.

- Jornada de Equipos Guidance.

With the participation of 10 teams of work about 80-90 members in total.

- ABASS-II Seminar.

Adaptive Behavior Assessment System.

Estimated attendance of 15 professionals.

- Course of new management skills to build participatory entities.

Directed to 25 members of management teams and managers of full inclusion.
