The City Council continues with biodiversity conservation actions thanks to the Land Custody agreement with ADESGA (07/09/2017)

Actions aimed at favoring biodiversity, fire prevention, forest clearing and guided tours are some of the actions allowed by the agreement with ADESGA Thanks to this, 1,250 schoolchildren are directly aware of the natural and environmental values of the El Valle area and Sierras de Altahona and Escalona

The City of Murcia maintains its actions of conservation of biodiversity in the farms of municipal ownership through agreements of Custody of the Territory with ADESGA, the Neighborhood Association for the Sustainable Development of the Garruchal, thanks to the execution of a joint program.

The two farms that are included in this agreement are Los Ginovinos, with 105 hectares mainly forest, and Los Porches, with 23 hectares mainly agricultural, both are in the mountains of Altahona.

In this agreement a maintenance plan is carried out for rainfed agricultural land such as olive, carob and almond trees, and access to food is facilitated by planting cereal crops that serve as food for the main prey species (rabbit and partridge).

Likewise, in the estate Los Ginovinos, four bodies of water are maintained that, taking advantage of a small birth, provide drink to the whole fauna.

In addition, agroforestry work involves tasks such as maintenance of roads and trails or fire prevention and forest health through clearing margins and clearing the forest in areas with excessive pine density.

Another of the commitments of this agreement is environmental education, allowing the educational centers of the municipality can make field trips guided by professional environmental educators.

This program gives access to 25 exits, which allows about 1,250 schoolchildren to know directly the natural values and the threats and difficulties of their conservation.

Since 2005, the consistory of Murciano continuously invests resources in the maintenance of agricultural and environmental values in various farms located mainly in the Special Protection Zone of the Aves (ZEPA), 'El Valle' and the 'Sierras de Altahona y Escalona' ', the second area with the highest diversity of birds in the region of Murcia.

Antonio Navarro has stated that "in order to facilitate the public use of this municipal space, actions have been taken to promote biodiversity.

In fact, this area has the highest known density of owl, with about 80 registered couples and is under monitoring, and it is one of the rare lands where the Bonelli's eagle, a species classified as endangered, still lives. "
