Now Murcia will demand that the Casino return the 10 million public of the restoration if it continues without offering gratuitous visits (06/09/2017)

- The Real Casino de Murcia continues without applying the provisions of the Cultural Heritage Law of the Region of Murcia or the agreement of the Plenary of last May, promoted by Now Murcia, unanimously approved and that the Councilor of Culture announced in and saucer

- For the municipal formation it is unacceptable that an association that has received more than 10 million euros of public funds to restore a National Monument protected by several laws, does not allow that Murcia visits gratuitously a building of which they have paid its restoration, besides have received subsidies and public aid

NOW MURCIA will demand that Real Sociedad de Murcia return the more than 10 million euros it received from public aid to restore its central headquarters in the Trapería street of Murcia if it does not launch the public and free visit that contemplates the legislation of heritage cultural as well as the agreement of the municipal plenary for the free opening of the Casino at least four days a month.

At the plenary session of the City of Murcia last May, the Corporation unanimously approved the motion of Now Murcia for this monument to fulfill the obligation established by the Spanish Historical Heritage Law and the Law of Cultural Heritage of the Region.

"We can not understand that the Casino does not yet apply the measure," says Alicia Morales, "when its headquarters is a building rehabilitated with the money of all Murcia.Through this rehabilitation each Murcia has already paid the equivalent of more than four ordinary entries ".

In the access control of the Casino they inform the visitors that there is no possibility of carrying out the visit free entrance established by the legislation, but there is only the option of payment, which also has a high ordinary cost of 5 euros.

The spokeswoman for Now Murcia indicates that "it is inconceivable that, when more than 10 million euros have been earmarked to restore this National Monument, the directive that manages this society wants to continue without fulfilling the mandate of two laws that protect the patrimony, as well as the agreement by unanimity of the Plenum of the City council of Murcia ".

The municipal training has been written in writing to Councilor for Culture, Jesus Pacheco, to request information on the steps he has taken to open the Casino, "since more than three months have elapsed since the adoption of this motion, which remains unfulfilled ".

Also, now Murcia has asked Pacheco copy of the briefs addressed to Real Casino, as well as those received from the same regarding its free opening, and asked for the date scheduled to start the free opening, which day of the month will be and at what times. "

The City Council signed an urban agreement with real estate developers and the Casino de Murcia, as 'Casino Agreement', which established "the qualification as a municipal interest of financing and execution by the promoters of the project of works," rehabilitating the emblematic Trapería building for a cost of more than 10 million euros.

"This means," says the councilor, "that the citizens of Murcia have already paid the equivalent of more than four ordinary tickets to the Casino per person, but still require a payment every day to visit the monument, preventing the exercise of the right to the free and public visit that the law says ".
