The City of Murcia and Feremur launch the campaign "Say no to drugs, say yes to the fair" among the youth of the municipality (25/08/2017)

The Councilor for Youth and Development Cooperation, Rebeca Pérez, accompanied by councilors Felipe Coello and Jesus Pacheco and representatives of the Regional Federation of Students Murcianos (Feremur) today presented the campaign "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to fair".

"What we are trying to do is to destroy that culture of excess alcohol and other drugs, which is sometimes understood as inherent in the leisure of young people on party nights. And even more so since alcohol plays a leading role in the Polyonsumo increasingly frequent ", stressed the councilor of Youth.

That is why the City of Murcia, through its councils of Youth and Sports, has decided to launch the campaign that will develop mainly in the September Fair.

This municipal plan foresees the edition of 5,000 flyers, which will be distributed in the main places of celebration among the young Murcia in the Fair: the Malecón, the enclosure of the Fica and the center of the municipality.

"Although the figures are shrinking, thanks to the coordinated work of the Health and Youth services, we still find that some young people use drugs when they go out partying, sometimes becoming habitual consumers. Alcohol reach both the individual who uses them and their family environment, "said Felipe Coello.

Excessive consumption of alcohol not only has serious health consequences, but also many triggers, such as dirt from streets and squares, noise and fights, assaults or traffic accidents.

That is why Rebeca Pérez stressed, "it is necessary to reach our young people through social networks, channels and the communication language of adolescents, in addition to awareness points with the distribution of flyer."

The president of Feremur, Rafael Olmos, has stated that "the City of Murcia launches a necessary program among the adolescents of the municipality, is a sample of the good tuning and work between Feremur and the consistory."

The design of the campaign has been carried out by students of the Faculty of Communication of the University of Murcia.

This measure is in addition to the awareness work that has been carried out by the City of Murcia in recent years and which is completed by the workshops for young people and adolescents in compulsory secondary education, vocational training and baccalaureate.

A set of talks between 2017 and 2018 will reach 30,000 under 80 centers in the municipality.

This is expected to follow the line of decline in health care in days like the Bando de la Huerta, where the number of interventions was reduced by 15% compared to 2016.

Finally, the Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, recalled that "a large number of the more than 200 events scheduled for Fair days are intended for young people, so we have to take special care with the Security and control of the areas with the greatest influx ".
