The City Council will install large pots in access points to large pedestrian areas (22/08/2017)

The Councilor for Traffic and Citizen Security, Lola Sánchez, held this morning a meeting with the government delegate, Antonio Sánchez-Solís, who also have attended Local Police and National Police to study and coordinate security measures, surveillance and Protection of places of high concentration of people.

In addition to an increase in police surveillance, the City Council, through the Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, and under the supervision of Local Police, will install supports such as large size planters and weight at access points to Large pedestrian areas in order to prevent vehicle access.

These actions have been studied in detail by Local Police and National Police, thus determining the existence of different areas in which it is necessary to install these supports such as Avenida de la Libertad, Plaza de los Apóstoles, Plaza Belluga, plaza Santo Domingo, Jardines del Malecón and Paseo Alfonso X.

It remains to be determined in which of these areas the elements will be fixed or will be installed when activities are carried out since a detailed study is being elaborated to concretize these actions.

Likewise, in the face of the Murcia Fair, concrete measures of security will be established for each and every one of the scheduled events.

This action is in addition to the one carried out by the Department of Development, which reviewed the status of a hundred bollards already installed and studied whether it is necessary to place new ones in specific areas.
