In this context, between 2000 and 2016, travelers staying in hotel establishments in the municipality of Murcia have experienced a growth of 45% despite the decline between 2008 and 2010. On the other hand, the growth of overnight stays in this same Period has been 36%.

Murcia received in 2016 a total of 430,315 travelers who stayed in one of the hotel establishments of the municipality, experiencing one of the highest growth rates since the beginning of the economic crisis, 20.59% over the previous year, and surpassing the Records corresponding to, so far the best year in history, 2007.

Non-resident tourists in Spain spent 146,180 overnight stays in hotel establishments in the municipality of Murcia, which represent 21% of total overnight stays, and experienced an extraordinary increase of 24% compared to the year 2015.

In relation to residents in Spain, the main market emitted to the city of Murcia in 2016, is the Community of Madrid, which represents 19.3% of travelers staying in hotel establishments and 18.78% of overnight stays.
