Murcia continues to work on the first Guide to Intelligent Public Space Management (19/08/2017)

The Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, together with the international projects service of the University of Murcia, whose director is Antonio Skarmeta, continue working on the first Guide to Intelligent Management of Public Space Is being developed within the framework of the URBELAC collaboration program.

The URBELAC program is in its third edition and constitutes a framework of close collaboration between the nine members in the areas of metropolitan planning and urban management, regeneration of public spaces, Smart City ... The different cities elaborate a series of projects and initiatives To face challenges in the urban context and in the sustainable development of cities.

The collaboration between Murcia, Buenos Aires, Campo Grande, Guadalajara, Montevideo, West Athens, Bordeaux, Milan and Viseu, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank and the European Union, specifically the General Directorate of Regional and Urban Policy Is embodied in the projects carried out by the participating cities, including the elaboration of a Guide for the Intelligent Management of Public Space.

After the working day, held in Murcia last June, where representatives of the eight cities also attended a delegation of representatives from other cities, the IDB, the EU, European experts and representatives of the European Network URBACT Interactive Cities , The member cities of the working group have set to work.

Also during the summer, those responsible for the progress stipulated by the working group continue working on the initiatives and the drafting of the document, under the coordination of the City of Murcia.

The council maintains a constant contact with the other cities with telematic means, where videoconferences have acquired an important weight, having established dates of delivery of different sub-sections by the beginning of September.

The Type Guide structures the urban environment management, collecting good practices, distribution, legislation and working philosophies of the cities participating in URBELAC, for the preparation of the practical manual for the organization of public space.
