The Grafiti Municipal Office has cleaned, painted and decorated more than 1,500 square meters of walls of Santa Eulalia. From next September, the Department of Development will clean certain streets with a high incidence of graffiti such as Calle Sag (08/08/2017)

The Municipal Office of Grafiti, a subsidiary of the Department of Development and Ferrovial Services, has carried out painted cleaning and decoration of a total of 1,560 square meters of walls of the neighborhood of Santa Eulalia, within the Urban DNA project.

Thus, vandalism has been cleaned, walls have been painted and artistic interventions have been carried out in approximately 40 streets of the neighborhood.

For the intervention of the Grafiti Municipal Office in this project, a study of the state of the streets of this neighborhood was carried out, making street-street visits and collecting one by one all the vandalism graffiti and state Of the facades affected.

After studying the state of façades in the streets of this neighborhood, and observing the large number of vandalic graffiti that affected practically all the streets, it was decided to classify the interventions into three categories in order to optimize the resources and to thereby cover The largest possible number of square meters of façades affected: Cleaning;

Cleaning - painting and artistic interventions

For the accomplishment of the works of cleaning two equipments with hydrolimpiadora and four workers were used for the cleaning of vandalic graffiti.

Thus, cleaning has been carried out in 23 streets, 90 points located in the different streets, with 800 square meters of cleaned area and the use of 200 kg of paint strippers used for cleaning and 300 kg of paintings in tasks Repainting.

For the work of cleaning and painting a group was created consisting of five local artists, who were in charge of realizing the different murals according to the sketch proposed in the urban DNA plan.

The realization of murals composed of geometric figures of flat forms, has been one of the alternative methods to the cleaning, obtaining with this to cover great amount of square meters of facades affected by graffiti.

A total of 14 points were distributed in 13 different streets, painting 570 square meters with 290 Kg of plastic paints and 60 spray cans.

In addition, the local artists who collaborate with the Office have made murals of freestyle, thus converting wall cloths affected by painted in canvases for new artistic murals.

In total, 190 square meters of artistic muralism have been decorated with 120 spray cans.

Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, has announced that, in addition to interventions such as this one or others made in specific areas or that are part of the plan of microlending, the Grafiti Municipal Office will act in streets where there is a high incidence of graffiti.

Thus, the next month of September will begin the cleaning of vandalic graffiti on Sagasta Street, San Nicolás Street and Matadero Viejo Street.
