Development Cooperation collaborates with Solidarity Responses Association in the training of 141 women living in poverty in Peru (04/08/2017)

The total population of the Santa Rosa Human Settlement, in the Peruvian District of Lima, is currently 7,949 inhabitants.

It is an area with high unemployment or precarious employment, where women are the most affected, with a majority dedication to household work, small-scale recycling and child care.

In order to try to improve its situation, the Answers Solidarity Association has set up an embroidery workshop project with which to remove those affected and their families from poverty.

A project to which is added the City of Murcia, through the Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, which subsidizes it with 4,750 euros.

Councilwoman Rebeca Pérez met today with representatives of the association to learn firsthand about the work being carried out in Peru, with the preparation of a space and assembly of an embroidery workshop to generate jobs for women in the Settlement Humano Santa Rosa and provide them with the necessary training so that they can carry out a task with competence.

"We are talking about a plan that directly benefits women from the Santa Rosa Human Settlement or the surrounding districts, and their relatives who depend directly on them, for a total of 287 people. A great impact on the society of Peru and from the council we will continue to support the most needy, "said Rebeca Perez.

The objective is to help these women from Santa Rosa to escape poverty and raise their standard of living by generating stable and well-paid jobs that provide them with the income necessary to raise their standard of living and that of their families.

In this way, in a concrete way, this collaboration aims to:

- Provide stable and profitable employment to Santa Rosa women, creating a small embroidery workshop.

- Train women so they can carry out their work with competence and quality.

- Train women in cross-cutting aspects to improve their social empowerment.

In order to achieve the general objective and the three specific objectives, the premises where a space in which the machines can be installed will be conditioned and will be completed with specific machinery and acquisition of inputs to carry out the training and training Of beneficiaries through training classes.
