The City Council requests the 1'5% Cultural for the extension of the Interpretation Center of the Archaeological Complex of the Wall of Santa Eulalia (28/07/2017)

The Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture headed by Jesús Pacheco, today presented to the Government Board the request for a grant within the call of the 1.5% Cultural Program of the Ministry of Public Works for the Project for the extension of the Interpretation Center Of the Archaeological Ensemble of La Muralla de Santa Eulalia.

The proposal has received the approval, reason why it initiates the procedures for the attainment of these funds.

This is one of the actions that the City Council can submit to the call for aid for conservation actions or enrichment of historical heritage by meeting the requirements of the call, including:

- Have already drafted project

- That we have the municipal cofinancing

- The destination of the investment is for public use of socio-cultural, tourist or public service for at least 50 years.

On November 11, 2016, the project entrusted to Urbamusa was approved for the drafting of the "Project to Expand the Interpretation Center of the Archaeological Complex of the Santa Eulalia Wall in Murcia", which was presented on December 5, 2016 And which has the authorization of the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

The project, which amounts to € 1,210,000, falls within the scope of the call for the 1.5% Cultural Program and that the requirements established in the regulatory Bases are met, and it is considered appropriate for the public interest to present it To the said call.

The funds provided by the City for this extension are 250,000 and 112,000 euros for the years 2018 and 2019, while the Ministry of Development would contribute 584,000 and 262,000 euros in these same periods, with 69% of the project financing.

Conservation or enrichment of historical assets

The objective of the 1.5% Cultural Program is to finance works for the preservation or enrichment of real estate of the Spanish Historical Heritage with the funds allocated by the Ministry of Development and its dependent or linked entities.

In this sense, the Law of Spanish Historical Heritage establishes that in the budget of each public work, financed wholly or partially by the State, an item equivalent to at least 1% of the funds that are of state contribution will be included. Destiny to finance works of conservation or enrichment of the Spanish Historical Heritage or of promotion of the artistic creativity.

As for the contribution of the Ministry of Public Works, the legislation establishes its commitment to increase its contribution to these ends to 1.5% of the budget of the new public works that it touches with its budget.

The financial contribution from the Ministry of Development will correspond to a maximum of 50% of the total budget of the action, in case the applicant is an Autonomous Community or dependent entity and at 75% of the total budget, In the case of a local entity or any other public or private entity.
