The City Council and associations of small and medium traders agree the Declaration of Zone of Great Tourist Influence The measure is part of the agreement approved today by the Governing Board and affects the core of the urban center (19/07/2017)

The businesses of the city of Murcia will open four more days a year of those authorized by the Autonomous Community.

Specifically, Easter Sunday, the first two Sundays of May and the previous to the Pilgrimage of the September Fair.

The agreement has been adopted with the consensus of associations representing small and medium businesses and has been collected today in the Declaration of Zone of Great Tourist Flow approved by the Governing Board.

The measure affects the area between Ronda Norte, Plaza Circular, Ronda de Levante, Miguel Induráin, Ronda Sur and Ronda Oeste.

This way, next year will open 19 holidays -15 allowed by the Autonomous Community and 4 by the City Council- and from 2019 will be 20 days (16 plus 4).

The measure is adopted once the city of Murcia surpassed at the end of last year the 600,000 annual overnight stays.

A milestone that, added to that the municipality counts on more than 100,000 inhabitants, causes that it obtains denomination of zone of great tourist influx.

In order to make the most appropriate decision, the Department of Commerce, Organization and Institutional Relations and Employment, Tourism and Culture, headed by Maruja Pelegrín and Jesús Pacheco respectively, together with the General Directorate of Commerce, have held numerous meetings with associations of merchants Small, medium and large in which he has heard his proposals regarding the modification of opening and closing times and the area he could establish.

The final agreement offers a solution accepted by small traders.

The final proposal has sought to agree on a measure that from the point of view of freedom of schedules allows the reconciliation of family, personal and work life, as well as from the point of view of limiting the territory affected by the declaration of large influx tour.

"We have tried to reconcile the rights of all the parties, while allowing the opening of the establishments in the dates in which the municipality registers a greater number of visitors or tourists as well as in the months in which the consumption picks up", Has highlighted Maruja Pelegrín.
