Contracts for the conservation of Casa Torre Falcón while drafting the project for its integral rehabilitation (14/07/2017)

The intervention will be implemented within two months and will deliberately avoid any intervention that might limit the planned rehabilitation, while at the same time trying to conserve the existing elements that may be exploited

The City Council has arranged the measures to undertake conservation works in the Torre Falcón House, in Espinardo, while the technical project of rehabilitation of the property is written.

The agreement, approved today by the Government Board, proposed by the Department of Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, directed by Rafael Gomez, aims to take basic measures of maintenance of the building, taking into account that soon will begin its Recovery, reason for which will be avoided any action that can condition or make difficult the same.

On the other hand, given the historical character of the building, built in the eighteenth century, and the existing degree of protection, the works will have archaeological supervision by the Town Hall technicians.

This action must be understood as a preliminary step to the planned integral rehabilitation, so that any intervention that would limit it is deliberately avoided, while at the same time trying to conserve existing elements that have the possibility of being exploited.

For this reason, the project approved today does not enter into the repair of damaged elements, but only the maintenance of the same.

The actions, which will be implemented within two months, basically are:

Cleaning of the property, through archaeological supervision, so that appropriate measures can be taken to conserve elements that may be of value and therefore reused in the subsequent planned rehabilitation of the property.

Closing of gaps by means of brick partition, interposing geotextile strip between the new wall and existing enclosure, so that a posteriori can be easily removed without affecting the enclosure.

Apeo of slabs, roof, stairs and walls.

All slabs, ladders, and roofs of the building will be removed by means of metal profiles such as telescopic scaffolds and woods to distribute the load properly.

Repair of cover to guarantee the tightness.

Retejado of the cover replacing and replacing the deteriorated tiles, replacing them with similar ones, that will be placed in the zones of channels of water collection, taking advantage of the existing tiles in good condition that will be placed in the zone more visible more.

Roof overhang review, removing only small items and replacing shingles only in a timely manner.

Existing seam cracking using lime or plaster mortar, depending on the support material and fiberglass mat.

This sewing will be only superficially and to be able to check the evolution of cracks over time.

Consolidation of adobe wall in ground floor with a layer of protection by lime mortar that will be placed from bottom to top to form a crust of about 3-4 cm thick.
