The International Festival of Folklore in the Mediterranean heats engines with music and painting on the street (10/07/2017)

A few hours remain so that the Torch of Friendship is lit as a sign of the start of the 50th edition of the International Festival of Folklore in the Mediterranean.

A special event of this declared Fiesta of Regional Tourist Interest that will be attended by groups from seven different countries.

It will be tomorrow at 9:45 pm on the stage installed in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga.

However there are many acts that are already being held today.

Throughout the morning 50 painters have filled with art the Plazas de San Bartolomé and José Esteve Mora of the capital, drawing on their canvas their particular vision on the sea, the great protagonist of the oldest Festival of Folklore in Spain.

The works will be part of the exhibition 'The Feast of the Seas', which can be visited at the City Museum.

The participants of this new action have been Antonio Martínez Mengual, Manuel Pérez, Miguel Fructuoso, Araceli Reverte, Ana Martínez, Buendía, Emilio Pascual, Esteban Bernal, Torregar, Cristóbal Toval, Nicolás de Maya, Manolo Pardo, Hurtado Mena, Rubén Zambudio, Martínez Gadea, Silvia Viñao, Martínez Cánovas, Manuel Paez, José Claros, Rafael Richart, Cánovas Almagro, Chelete Monereo, Carmen Cantabella, Nono García, Antonio Ballester, Gómez Ribelles, Carlos Pardo, Antonio Tapias, Jean Carlo Porto, Carlos Montero, Salvador Torres, Burgueño, Antonio Sánchez, Pablo Lambertos, Marcos Salvador Romera, Pérez Casanova, Esteban Linares, Eduardo Pérez Salguero, Jesús Silvente, Juan Bautista Sanz, Claudio Aldaz, Miwako, Arturo, Patricia Gómez, Elisa Ortega, Manolo Delgado, Montijo, Katarzyna Rogowicz, Jorge Fin and Severo Almansa.

Also this afternoon the exhibition 'Other Countries' in the space of the Mills of the Caballerizas River opens with photographs of artists from our land that bring us closer to the reality of countries like Cuba, Iceland, Morocco, India, Italy, France, Mexico or Denmark.

Juan Ballester, Manuel Diaz Burgos, Tomy Ceballos, Ángel Fernández Saura, José Hernández Pina, María Manzanera, José Luis Montero, José Luis Vidal Coy and Fréderíc Volkringer will transfer the viewer with current portraits or with an antiquity of up to 30 years.

Finally the day will close at 9 pm in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, with the concert of the Musical Society Las Musas de Guadalupe that will interpret different works related to the folklore and the premiere of the Hymn to the International Festival of Folklore in the Mediterranean , With lyrics and music by Ginés Torrano and arrangements for Ginés Abellán Alcaraz band.
