The City Council will improve the displacements in the districts of the South Coast with new links and connections (03/07/2017)

The projects presented today by José Ballesta and Roque Ortiz, in collaboration with the Central and Regional Administrations, will improve the connection of the southern area of the municipality and expedite the trips from Murcia to the coast.

The Beniaján ring road will relieve traffic on Calle Mayor and increase permeability between the districts of the South.

The construction of a roundabout that replaces the lower pass through the center of Beniaján is also under study.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, and the General Director of Roads, José Antonio Fernández, presented today at the new intersection of Cuatro Caminos, which is already open to traffic, Road infrastructures that the City of Murcia will promote in the area of the Southern Coast, over the next two years, in collaboration with the State and Autonomous Administrations.

"There are three objectives of these new infrastructures: to improve the connection of the southern area of the municipality, to unload and alleviate traffic on the Calle Mayor of Beniaján and to expedite the movements from Murcia to the coast," said José Ballesta, who added that " These actions stand out for their high social profitability, since they will serve to groups of population of between 50,000 and 100,000 inhabitants. "

The Community will give this year the T-300 (Fabián Escribano de Beniaján Avenue) and the RM-300 (from Los Dolores to the intersection with the RM-330).

This will allow the Consistory to undertake a series of actions that will improve permeability among all the districts of the Southern Coast.

Specifically, the T-300 currently presents the problem of the underpass that crosses the center of Beniaján.

The City Council is in talks with the Community to reach an agreement that involves the construction of a roundabout to replace the lower pass, responding to a historic request from the residents of the Villa.

This project is currently under study.

On the other hand, it is foreseen the next tender of the Green Way ceded by Adif to the City council and that will unite all the pedanías of the South Coast.

The roundabout planned to replace the lower pass through the center of Beniaján will be integrated in the passage of Vía Verde.

Bike path between the Greenway and the South Coastal axis

Currently, the Ministry of Development is running the well-known highway Reguerón (MU-30), which will link with the RM-1 (Alquerías-San Javier), an infrastructure that is the gateway to Murcia with the coast and Comarca del Mar Menor, enabling an alternative route to the RM-19.

The section under construction starts at the RM-1 and ends at Avenida de Levante (Beniaján), where a roundabout is inserted that connects the entrance and exit branches to the dual carriageway.

This year, the Ministry will assign to the City Council these two entrance and exit lines: the one from the roundabout in the Canute Curve (link with a length of 560 m) and the south bank with the future south coast structuring axis A length of 1600 m).

Thanks to the negotiations carried out by the Ayuntamiento with the central Government, the South Road has been incorporated a bike path of 2.50 m width and lighting in the section between the Greenway and the Coastal South.

The Town Hall will run the bypass of Beniaján

On the other hand, the City Council plans to run the ring road of Beniaján, a new branch that will connect the RM-300 to the Avenida de Levante.

The project is budgeted at 1.9 million euros and would include a double lane, parking, bicycle path and pedestrian sidewalks.

This new infrastructure will increase the permeability between the districts of the Southern Coast and will discharge and alleviate the traffic of the Calle Mayor de Beniaján.

In addition, it will expedite the trips to the coast from the districts of the southern area of the municipality, as drivers can take the ring road as an exit to the Garruchal, without having to pass through the Port of Cadena.

In addition, the City Council has negotiated with the Ministry, in collaboration with the Junta de Hacendados, the modification of part of the Reguerón motorway project, with a series of hydraulic steps that will avoid possible avenues that occur in the La Rambla area Garruchal.
