The City Council left without executing more than 78% of the budget for investments in 2016 (03/07/2017)

The City of Murcia alone executed 21.6 million euros of the 101.6 planned for investment in the municipal budgets of 2016, which means that more than 78 percent of the money planned for projects in neighborhoods and districts "ran out of execution "According to a report by the sectoral group Economía de Cambiemos Murcia extracted from the settlement of the budget last year.

Councilman Sergio Ramos explained that this gap between the budget provided by the government team and the executed makes the accounts of the PP are "unreal".

"This is a maneuver that the popular repeat year after year to make up the accounts and pretend that they will run many projects when in fact it is a lie."

According to the aforementioned report, this is not the first time that there is such a big difference in terms of the Consistory's investment.

Already in the 2015 budget, the final credit, that is, the forecast, amounted to 93 million euros, of which only spent 21.7, so that the balance not executed reached 71.2 million.

A gap, explained Ramos, who demonstrates the "political inability" of the Government team, with the mayor to lead, to carry out the necessary projects for the municipality of Murcia, and why "explanations should be given" to the citizenship.

He also criticized the fact that the local government took six months to send to the opposition groups the liquidation of the budget, a fact that for the mayor of the municipalist formation means "a lack of transparency that makes it difficult to control the budgetary work of the PP ".

He also referred to other formations represented in the City Council by asking what sense to expect new investments for 2017 when the budget will not be active until September, taking into account the background in the application of funds for investment in neighborhoods and districts of the municipality.

"We are very afraid that, once again, promises of new investments will only be on paper with the sole intention of collecting votes," Ramos said.

Questions to the Councilor for Finance

Let's change Murcia will ask in the July plenary for this difference.

Specifically, Ramos will address the Councilor for Finance and Contracting, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, to explain the reasons why only 21.3 of the total budgeted for investments in 2016 has been executed, and what measures are planned to boost The Consistory to increase that number.
