One hundred researchers from more than 60 Spanish and foreign universities debate at the UCAM on the Economics of Education (29/06/2017)

The economic moment that we are experiencing and the mismatches that this causes in the education or the academic performance of our students are some of the topics that are debated today and tomorrow in the Conference organized by the Association of the Economy of Education, which every year Are held in a city other than Spain, and in its 26th edition take place in Murcia, Universidad Católica San Antonio.

A hundred researchers from sixty universities present their papers and discuss the role of education in economic and social life.

Thus, Juan Cándido Gómez, coordinator of the Conference and doctor of the UCAM, stated that "socioeconomic change caused a decrease in educational demand, public spending was considered excessive and unemployment arose, at which point began to study the educational offer As a decisive factor in which education is related to the labor market ".

On the other hand, in the last years the evaluation has arisen: "The educational institutions are evaluated from an efficacy perspective that serves to verify and control the management processes and the results in order to use these results to determine the financing of the education".

Gómez defines the Economics of Education as "the discipline that studies the laws that regulate the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services, always taking into account that human needs can be unlimited, but resources are not, for What is necessary to manage these productive factors ".
