The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has carried out an investigation aimed at clarifying an alleged intentional fire in a house with its resident in Beniaján-Murcia, which has resulted in the arrest of a person as alleged perpetrator of the crimes of homicide Attempted damages, fire and burglary.
The events took place during the afternoon of Thursday, June 8, in a building in the Murcian hamlet of Beniaján, when a fire broke out in a deserted house where a destitute young man lived without resources.
The resident of the house informed the officials of Murcia City Council and firefighters that the fire had been caused by a neighbor of the locality, reason why, after having lost their belongings and fearing for his life, the victim fled the place.
Once the fire was suppressed and alerted of the facts, the civil guards began the corresponding investigation in order to verify the plausibility of the same and made an exhaustive ocular inspection in the place in search of evidence and indications on the causes of the fire, as well As a search of the resident of the property, who was in an unknown whereabouts.

The victim told the agents that a neighbor of Beniaján had been threatening him for a few days by an alleged robbery inside his car and, obsessed with him, had come to attack him in front of witnesses;

The investigation reveals that the facts occurred while the victim rested on a mattress that was on the first floor of the abandoned building, when the alleged author accessed through a window of the building, sprayed the mattress with fuel and set the fire on fire causing a Intense fire that, due to the flammable material that was in the room, propagated with a rapidity throughout the plant, although the resident managed to escape without major injuries.
For the extinction of the fire three fire trucks of the Park of Murcia were mobilized that in their quick action prevented that it spread to the surrounding buildings.
After a thorough investigation, the alleged perpetrator of the acts was convicted for the crimes of attempted murder, damages resulting from fire and burglary.
Provisional detention for detainee
The 39-year-old Spanish prisoner and resident of Murcia, along with the investigations, has been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 8 of Murcia (Murcia), which has ordered the admission to custody.
