The landscapes of Moratalla, painted by 45 UMU Fine Arts students (06/06/2017)

The students of the subject Painting and Landscape of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia, expose their particular visions of landscapes of the Region in the initiative "Landscape.UM versus Sierras de Moratalla Red Natura 2000", tenth edition of a project In which hundreds of students from the University of Murcia have already participated.

The particular perceptions of the students and the technique acquired in the subject taught by Victoria Sánchez Giner Victoria Chezner, curator of the exhibition, were taking shape in the works until they compose an exhibition that will be inaugurated on Wednesday, June 7, in the Sala José Nicolás Almansa Museum of the University of Murcia, at 8 pm, which will remain open to the public until June 22.

Since the beginning of this initiative, in 2007, each new edition has tried to bring the Murcia its landscapes, trying to find out how they are seen by young artists in training at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia.

Places like Calnegre, Calblanque, Sierra Espuña, Almadenes Canyon, Cabo Tiñoso, Plains of Cagitán or the Regional Park of the Salinas de San Pedro, have served as spaces of observation and artistic experimentation for the young artists that are formed in the University of Murcia.

The results have been shown to society through various traveling exhibitions that have toured the geography of Murcia with the support of the Cajamurcia Foundation.

In this way it has been possible to show different views of the natural landscapes of Murcia, and to invite reflection on the need for its proper management and conservation.

The project has been presented in different scientific and technical forums at national and international level, always with good reception.

Symptom of the quality of the same and the interest it arouses is its inclusion in the Catalog of Good Practices in Landscape 2011, promoted in the framework of the PaysMed Project.

In addition, in 2012, on the occasion of the 20 years of the Protected Spaces of the Region of Murcia, a selection of works in different museums of the region was exposed.

All this in order to spread the values of the southeast landscape.

Victoria Chezner, project coordinator and curator of the exhibition, says that "the natural conditions and the long history of human intervention make the Region of Murcia and, specifically, its protected natural areas a perfect framework for knowledge, study and Dissemination of landscape values ".
