Local action, global awareness (05/06/2017)

On the occasion of the Environment Day, José Ballesta offers students with the most sustainable ideas and actions, the prizes of the school competitions called by the City Council.

The participants in the programs of Green Schools and School Gardens and in the competitions of posters and stories, summoned with the motto "Teach your most sustainable city"

The students of the municipality have been, once again, the great protagonists of the celebration of the World Environment Day, since they are the target of most of the activities of awareness and environmental education promoted by the City, and their involvement in The programs are compensated by the call of various competitions and contests.

Today was the day for the presentation of the awards, at an event held in the Plenary Hall which was attended by the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Councilor for Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro.

During his speech, the mayor stated that "as you know, the motto chosen this year by the United Nations Organization to celebrate the Day of the Environment is 'Connect with nature'.

We want you, the children and young people, to go further than us, so that you can bequeath to the next generations of Murcia a cleaner environment and a more caring nature.

Because the commitment to the environment is with those who come after us. "

The prizes awarded have been awarded to the Green Schools Program, which this year has reached its 16th edition, the school gardens program and the competitions of posters and stories for school children, all promoted by the Environmental Education program of the Department of Environment Environment.

1) .- PROGRAM GREEN SCHOOLS

The CEIP Escuelas Nuevas, from El Palmar, and CEIP Vistabella have received the "Green Schools" awards for their involvement in improving their environmental behavior throughout this course.

This program aims to develop habits that help students to better understand concepts related to environmental education: responsible consumption, waste, alternative energy, etc.

Both centers receive a diploma and a gift card of € 250 which should be used for actions involving environmental improvements for the center.

2) .- SCHOOL HOURS PROGRAM

33 schools participate in the School of Ecological Schools of the Municipality of Murcia (RHEMU), with which the City Council wants to show students and teachers all the aspects that affect the exploitation of an orchard, from seed selection and germination , Until the harvesting of the fruits, as well as to establish relations between the great environmental problems and the functioning of the school gardens.

The CEIP Nuestra Señora de la Arrixaca (Murcia) has won the prize, consisting of diploma and gift card of € 250 for material for the school garden.

3) .- XXI CONCURSO OF POSTERS FOR SCHOOLS

The contest has covered this course around "Teach your city more sustainable" "and have participated 116 students from 9 schools in the poster contest, and 15 students from 4 centers in the second edition of the story contest.

The students who have been awarded will each receive a gift card for school supplies and a diploma.

The participating schools will be given a gift card for a maximum amount of € 150 for the purchase of books and a diploma.
