Education turns the municipality into a learning space for students of all ages (02/06/2017)

The "My City Teaches" program is offered to the 72,696 students aged 3 to 18 years of the 186 schools in neighborhoods and districts.

As a novelty for the 2017/18 course is included the section "Making Citizenship", aimed at expanding education in values ​​of schoolchildren.

The districts and districts can be a perfect stage for the learning and the participation of the students of the 186 existing educational centers in the municipality.

To them, which congregate 72,696 students from 3 to 18 years, is directed the program "My city teaches" the Department of Education, directed by Rafael Gomez, and whose content has been approved today by the Governing Board.

The programs and activities that encompass them have an excellent acceptance by all schools, as evidenced year after year in the high levels of participation that it registers.

Specifically, during the 2016/2017 academic year, 67,311 students participated (from kindergarten through high school), with a total of 2,796 activities during school hours.

For the next course, 95 activities are offered to students from infancy to high school;

Of these activities 71 are free and 24 have a cost for the Town Hall.

As for the content, the programs and most of the activities of the last course are maintained, and new activities are incorporated into the offer, specifically for children's education, eight new proposals appear as novelties:

- "Vicente, the Brave Pirate", black theater of puppets

- "The garden", an interactive show that unites theater, play and the active participation of schoolchildren

- "The Music Box", a show designed for schoolchildren to feel the music with pieces of composers from different eras and dance with their different types

- "Traditions Huertanas", workshop of customs and folklore Murcia where the students will carry out agricultural activities and know some of the typical foods of the orchard

The journey of the Light. ", Musical spectacle of great puppets and actors in Black Light loaded with visual sensations

- "Center of Crafts: Sculpture Workshop",

- "Center of Crafts: Workshop of engraving with vegetables and fingers" and

- "Center of Crafts: Creative workshop of kitchen".

Meanwhile, primary school students will be able to participate in the next course in five new activities

- Craft Center: Pottery Workshop

- Traditions Huertanas

- Visit to the Post and Telegraph: "The adventure of a letter"

- Sakapatú - Concert of the La Caixa Foundation, performed by a group of young musicians on songs from different origins

- Paraje de la Contraparada, a guided itinerary where contents such as water will be worked as a water resource, the Segura river as an ecosystem, its branches and its influence on the orchard landscape

In secondary education, incorporates the proposal of "orchards huertanas", an activity on the Huerta de Murcia that consists of two phases, a talk supported by audiovisual material: "La huerta de Murcia" in the educational center and later visit to a session Of the Council of Good Men, in the Plenary Hall of the City Hall.

Another novelty for the 2017/18 course is the section "Making Citizenship", aimed at expanding education in values ​​of schoolchildren: With this objective, several activities are proposed:

- Workshop Better without violence: "Learn to coexist" (5th and 6th Primary and 1st and 2nd Secondary)

- "Educate for solidarity" food bank (3rd and 4th year of secondary school)

- Visit to the premises of the Food Bank where the students will receive a lecture, supported with audiovisual material, on the function of this type of entities and realization of a training workshop carrying out the classification of several foods

- Concert for peace and for Gender Equality (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Secondary), to bring students to culture for peace and against gender violence through music and poetry,

- Workshop for Gender Equality: Thing of two.

(3rd and 4th year of secondary and high school), whose objective is to articulate measures to promote equality of opportunities between men and women in the formal educational framework.

- 365 Beats (Bachillerato), a lecture in the classroom and a testimony of a homeless person, hosted by the Jesus Abandoned Foundation, and a colloquium.

The Programming of the Educational Offer for the 2017/2018 academic year will be sent to all educational centers in the first days of September, with the aim of requesting the activities for primary and secondary education units from 7 to 19 18 to 30 September for high school and high school.
