The traditional and retail trade of the municipality will have a new local council for participation and consensus (02/06/2017)

The Governing Board today approved the regulation that will govern this new body, where the groups and representatives of the sector will have voice.

One of its tasks will be to boost, help and boost local trade, both in terms of employment generation, contributing to the urban structure, maintaining the vitality and quality of all neighborhoods and districts and consolidating a model Of sustainable city.

The City of Murcia will create a Local Trade Council that will be responsible for displaying institutional and social representation aimed at participation and the proposal of initiatives for the promotion and reinforcement of retail trade in the municipality.

It will become, therefore, the necessary interlocutor organ to improve and to reinforce the relations between the City council of Murcia and the different groups and representatives of the sector.

Its implementation responds to the will and objective of the Department of Commerce, Organization and Institutional Relations, directed by Maruja Pelegrín, to have a council of advice and citizen participation in matters of local commerce, in order to represent this sector For the economic promotion and promotion of the commercial attractiveness of Murcia.

It will therefore act as a forum for debate, dialogue and consensus between representatives of the sector and public and private institutions.

Within this participation forum, the principles and strategic lines of local trade will be established, as essential elements to promote, aid and enhance their economic and social development, both in terms of employment generation and productivity, as well as their contribution to the Urban integration, the maintenance of the vitality and quality of all districts and districts and the consolidation of a sustainable city model.

In line with the existing collaboration between the City of Murcia and the various associations, the council is constituted as a true body of participation and interlocutor necessary to improve and strengthen this relationship.

In addition, it will maintain coordination channels with other sectoral boards of the City Council and with the Regional Advisory Council, with the aim of coordinating and making compatible the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposals or measures that it proposes to adopt.

Attractive commercial

Its functions will be:

A) Analyze the situation of the retail trade in the area of ​​the municipality, as well as propose and promote initiatives to enhance commercial attractiveness, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life.

B) To coordinate the relations between the merchants and the Town Hall.

C) Contribute to create an innovative and competitive commercial infrastructure in the municipality, adapted to the habits of the consumers.

D) Encourage coordination between public or private institutions or entities to carry out initiatives and actions that improve the sector.

E) To know the municipal policies in matters of commerce, and to promote the participation of the sector in the municipal matters that affect to him.

F) Know the initiatives of the Autonomous Community and any other body or entity, public or private, with a relevant impact on the sector in the municipality.

G) To raise reports and proposals of solutions that help to improve the sector.

H) To examine and inform as many matters and consultations as are of interest to the commerce sector from the public administrations entrusted with attributions on trade, as well as from the actions proposed among various councils of the municipal administration.

I) Evaluate the effectiveness of the measures proposed and implemented.

J) Any other activity related to the commercial activity entrusted to it.

Debate, dialogue and consensus

The local council will be chaired by the Mayor, acting Councilor of Commerce acting as vice president.

There will also be representatives of the municipal groups, the Autonomous Community, the Federation of Murcia Commercial Area (FEMUAC), each of the associations of merchants, street vendors and the federation of municipal markets, along with delegates from the tourism, Consumption, supermarkets and large commercial areas, as well as the Chamber of Commerce.

The regulation has received the approval of the Governing Board today and will be submitted to the Plenary for initial approval.

After its public exposure for a month and resolution of possible allegations, the text will come into force with the final approval of the Plenary and publication in the BORM.
