Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, reminded the PSOE that the five sports facilities of administrative concession were approved for "drafting of project, construction and subsequent management of the service."
This is the case of the sports centers La Flota, JC1, Verdolay, Cabezo de Torres and Inacua.
According to data from the 2016 financial year, the number of sports activities carried out in these concessions totals 127, with a total offer of 25,773 places and 19,577 active users.
In accordance with the clauses of these contracts, the concessionaire is obliged to comply with the management report of the installation, as well as the program of services and activities presented in its offer.
This management is supervised by the Municipal Sports Service, both in terms of maintenance of the facilities and the development of the sports program.
In turn, the suggestions and complaints that can be presented by the users, which, if appropriate, could also lead to a sanctioning file are studied and reported.
It should be noted that the incidence of complaints is minimal, if we take into account the total number of users of these facilities, assuming 0.15% in 2016.
On the other hand, the amounts paid by the City to the concessionaire companies are derived directly from the clauses of the respective contract and subject to the feasibility studies presented by them in the corresponding public tenders that were called for this purpose.
It should not be forgotten that the aforementioned sports centers were built by these companies and are subject to the collection of sports activities developed at public prices and municipal bonuses.
In turn, these amounts are paid to last year, once the concessionaire has submitted the audited accounts of the previous year, and are subjected to a rigorous examination by the Economic Service of the City Council, Sports Service and, where appropriate, Contracting Service.
