Felipe Coello, Councilor for Sports and Health, reminded sports organizations that the deadline for requesting the annual call for grants for the development of sports activities for the 2016-2017 season ends on June 7, after being published the May 18 on the web of the Department of Sports.

These grants can be accessed by sports organizations such as clubs, associations, anonymous sports associations, federations and individual athletes.

The procedure, which is competitive, aims to meet the demand of the population in sports and has up to 6 criteria for appraisal of applications ranging from maintenance of equipment in the highest category of national competition, maintenance of equipment categories Different from the previous one, in swimming sports, in sports initiation programs (sports schools), in the organization of sporting events in the Municipality of Murcia and for individual athletes.

A total amount of 772,000 euros for these grants that will boost the sport of the municipality will be distributed as follows:

- For the maintenance of equipment in the highest category of national competition, the maximum amount of 400,000 euros is allocated.

- For the maintenance of equipment other categories, the maximum amount of 150,000 euros is allocated.

- For swimming sports, the maximum amount of 100,000 euros is allocated.

- For sports initiation schools, the maximum amount of 75,000 euros is allocated.

- For the organization of sports events in the municipality, the maximum amount of 25,000 euros is allocated.

- For individual athletes, the maximum amount of 22,000 euros is allocated.
