The Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, attended yesterday the presentation of the results of the Monitor of Tourism Competitiveness of urban Spanish destinations (Urbantur 2016), in which Murcia has entered for the first time in its history.
This ranking, developed by Exceltur, the alliance for tourism excellence, analyzes the relative competitiveness of the 22 most successful urban destinations in their tourism results.
Thus, Murcia has obtained a valuation of 89.5 out of 100 after studying the attractiveness of the leisure and business products offer, the competitive constraints of the urban environment and local life, accessibility and mobility, governance and Strategic management and economic and social performance.
In the factor of governance and strategic management, which values ​​political priority and strategic vision, the commitment to product lines and their sale on-line, the market vision in marketing management and the valuation of tourism , Murcia has earned a score of 100.5.
The objectives of this Urbantur 2016 ranking are to highlight the importance of urban tourism in Spain and its ability to act as a driver of economic development and job creation;
Highlight and promote the leadership of municipalities and private public cooperation to promote the most profitable, efficient and sustainable tourism positioning.
And identify best practices in planning and urban management of the set of cross-cutting elements that affect the success of a tourist destination.
It also incorporates an instrument to follow the competitive progress of tourism at the municipal level, based on objective indicators.
Councilman Jesús Pacheco has indicated that "we are going to be on the right track in tourism. We will continue to innovate and improve in this important economic sector of our municipality."
