The most traditional flavors of our orchard will mark this Wednesday the final of Gastronomy of the CreaMurcia Contest (23/05/2017)

The eight selected chefs will face the clock and will have two hours to prepare dishes that will revolve around the rabbit and garlic. There will be a first prize of € 1,000, two prizes of € 350 and the publication of a recipe book for the dissemination of Your best dishes

As in the most prestigious cooking contests, the finalists of the CreaMurcia Competition, in their area of ​​gastronomy, will play this Wednesday the final that will decide who is the best chef or cook in the municipality of Murcia.

The Mayor, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Youth, Rebeca Pérez, will be present during the process of making the dishes.

The final will be held on Wednesday 22 at the Qualification Center, starting at 18:00 hours and each of the applicants will have two hours to prepare their recipe.

At your disposal will have all kinds of appliances and kitchen utensils to be able to use the latest technology in their elaborations and presentations and try to recover the flavors as always.

This new edition, promoted by the Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, is open to the assistance of anyone who wants to enjoy the culinary creations or support the participants.

Finalists and dishes

Eight are the finalists who for two hours will prepare their best dishes based, this year, on the rabbit and garlic cabañil, as a tribute to the most typical flavors of the Murcia garden.

It is about putting in value recipes and products that have always been linked to Murcia cuisine and that can be versioned by the contestants, who must maintain the tradition to surprise the jury.

The first one will start at 18:00 hours and the rest will be incorporated every five minutes.

Thus, the list of participants in this edition and their choice for the contest are:

- Mariano Martinez Cazorla will produce a 'Rabbit with potatoes with garlic cabañil'.

- Lorena Izquierdo Martínez will bet on a 'rabbit in the spring air'.

- Luis David Salazar Astudillo will present to the jury his 'Rabbit to garlic cabañil in its surroundings'.

- For his part, Ibán José Velasco Navarro will cook 'Rabbit in his land'.

- Mohammed Chahlal Allay will seek victory with a 'rabbit with potatoes to the garlic cabañil'.

- 'Rabbit with garlic and its creamy gnocchi' is the proposal of Ricardo Lozano Alcázar.

- Antonio Reyes Rubio will play with the textures to present the 'Low-temperature rabbit loin with violet potato with garlic and lemon bubble'.

- And finally Tomás Martínez Galindo will elaborate the traditional recipe of 'Rabbit to garlic cabañil'.

Special jury and prizes

The jury of this edition is chaired by the Councilor for Youth and Development Cooperation, Rebeca Pérez, who will be accompanied by four specialized technicians and the Head of Cultural and Educational Dynamization Program, Juan Albaladejo García, who will act as secretary.

Among the jury members who stand out are two winners of the competition, who know well what it is to face a final of these characteristics.

Raúl Martínez-Azor Arias, won in 2007 with a plate of 'Foie roasted and slightly smoked, with seasonal mushrooms and Iberian consomme' and currently is owner and chef of the restaurant Plaza, Totana.

For his part, David López Carreño, won the victory in 2008 and now combines gastronomic teaching with the stoves of the restaurant Local de Ensayo.

Alongside them will be the also cook Julio Velandrino, contestant of the third edition of the television contest TopChef, and chef of the restaurant Taúlla, and the gastronomic journalist and critic José Francisco Larrosa Sancho.

To determine who is the best cook of the CreaMurcia Contest, they will value not only the elaboration and complexity of the development of your dish, but the presentation to the jury, creativity or harmony between the chosen ingredients and the taste qualities of the products.

This time the winner of the contest will receive a cash prize of 1,000 euros, while there will be two prizes of 350 € for two of the participants.

In addition will be edited the recipe of the winner so you can spread your gastronomic work.

Once the participation of the eight young cooks is concluded, and after the deliberations of the jury, the winners of this new edition will be announced.
