The City Council, through the Department of Parks and Gardens of the Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, continues the biological treatment in more than 200 trees that seeks to control the populations of a harmful insect.

To do this is used this totally natural technique that is developed during the month of May consisting of the release of insects of the species called Aphidius and Chrysopa.

In order to maintain the healthy tree and increase its life, this biological control is performed in jacarandas, tipuana or ficus.

"We want to use natural methods to control some species of insects that can shorten the lifespan of the specimens, so we do this totally natural release of a predator and another parasite that, with the period of time necessary for its establishment, Is colonizing the specimen and controlling the harmful insect, "explains the councilman of the branch, Jose Guillén.

The advantages are that, once the area is established, pest problems are ensured in a high percentage for many years and this also avoids the use of chemicals.

These works are carried out in the month of May for about two weeks with a team of four people and two lifting cranes, always in localized specimens and without this posing any danger to the citizens, being totally natural and 0% harmful to The copy.

Among the objectives are to act in a natural and ecological way and, although it is a technique still under development, positive results have already been demonstrated in previous years.

This treatment is being carried out in specific streets such as Floridablanca Avenue, Inocencio Arias Avenue, Plaza González Conde and the hamlet of Torreagüera, streets in which the viability of the predatory insect has been verified against the insect plague.

The Parks and Gardens Service carries out a constant and detailed study of all the specimens of the municipality throughout the year, in order to achieve a longer duration and care of these.
