Cardinal Rouco Varela: "It is encouraging that a university analyzes the life of the Virgin" (17/05/2017)

"It is encouraging that in a university where all the scientific subjects are studied, we also analyze the life of the Virgin, since Mariology is a science in which the Virgin is highlighted as one of the great figures in the history of Man "Said Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela, who presided over the Eucharist prior to the opening ceremony of the International Congress of Mariology.

Cardinal Rouco also recalled the message that the Virgin gave to the shepherds of Fatima.

"We have experts from around the world, such as the president of the Pontifical Academy of International Mariology, Stefano Cecchin, the Bishop of Leiria Fatima, Serafim de Sousa, or the Archbishop of the Syrian Patriarchate," said the president of the UCAM.

José Luis Mendoza also stressed that the Virgin of Fatima will preside over the whole congress and that the idea of ​​the Catholic University is to be able to make in the next years more editions of this international event.

For his part, the president of the Pontifical Academy of International Mariology, Stefano Cecchin, affirmed that "Spain has a great wealth in studies of Mariology" and also stressed that "the future of the Church are the laity."
