The municipal groups of Cambiemos Murcia and Socialist Party today demanded that the Ministry of Education maintain the two lines of early childhood education in the public school La Naranja, in the center of Beniaján, for the next school year.
These groups have been made thus echo of the demands made by the Association of Mothers and Parents (AMPA) of the mentioned educational center, after the address received a writing of the Counseling informing of the suppression of one of the lines.
This action, in the words of Nacho Tornel, Cambiemos Murcia, and Susana Hernández, PSOE, has no reason to be because, among other reasons, the number of applications for the 2017-2018 academic year is at least 31 for that age.
Therefore, it complies with the condition included in the regulations by which, from the 25 enrolled students, the line must be doubled.
This is not the first time that the Ministry is in favor of eliminating one of the lines.
Already in 2015-2016 one of them was abolished, but in the next one had to be restored because the number of applications presented was 28, three less than for the next course.
Tornel and Hernández have agreed to support the arguments of the AMPA in relation to the fact that the school has an important social value, and that the elimination of the line would only serve, in this case, to leave out of the center students who have applied for a public school .
In relation to this point, they have argued that the "pretext" that if there are not 25 students can not form a line is "unsustainable", because the reality is that that number is the maximum number of students allowed per classroom, not the minimum.
For its part, the AMPA is collecting signatures from neighboring associations of Beniaján and nearby districts to prevent the suppression of public service.
