Murcia celebrates the Day and the Night of the Museums with more than 200 activities (16/05/2017)

The City Museum, the Museum of Science and Water, the Ramón Gaya Museum, Los Molinos del Río, the Almudí Palace and the Casa del Belén have programmed various activities such as free expression spaces, rap recitals, scientific gymkana, Concerts, art exhibitions, children's workshops and guided tours, among others

The collaboration between the Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Environment has allowed, once again, to organize a complete open and participative cultural program to celebrate the Day and the night of museums, on Thursday 18 Of May and Saturday 20 of May respectively.

In total there will be more than 200 activities that will welcome the 17 museum and art spaces of the city, of which six are dependent on the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (Museums: Archaeological, Fine Arts, San Juan de Dios and Santa Clara, and the exhibition spaces Centro Párraga-Cendeac and Sala Verónicas), and six managed by the City of Murcia (Museums: Ramón Gaya, City, Science and Water, Space Mills of the River, Almudí Palace and Casa del Belén ), To which must be added other participating institutions such as Salzillo's museums, the Cathedral, the University of Murcia, La Sangre and the Alfonso X El Sabio Museum.

The joint joint activities organized by the City Council and the Community are:

- Museological Passport in all participating museums, can be stamped from 18 May to 21 May.

There will be raffled between the passports delivered and sealed 10 signed reproductions and the poster of Ángel Mateo Charris.

Visitors will be able to pick up in any of the cultural spaces of the city, either municipal or regional, the museological passport that, in addition to serving as a guide, will allow entering the draw for these original numbered.

In this space has also organized a storytelling in which any visitor can tell stories anecdotes for a maximum of 10 minutes on the museum and the neighborhood of El Carmen and then leave a note on them as a collective memory of the Day of Museums 2017.

In the Museum of the City it is necessary to emphasize the public act of reception of different works donated to the center, such as photographs, pictures, postcards and illustrations, among others, that will be held on Friday at 7 pm.

Later the pianists Pedro Valero and Pilar Valero will interpret a selection of the 296 scores donated and composed by Manuel Massotti Escuder.

The selection has been made by the same musicians and will be the first time these pieces have been performed since the death of the author.

In addition from today and until Saturday they invite to 'say the unspeakable' about the museum, using its facade as a space of free expression, and visitors can participate in a set of clues in which they will know some 'unspeakable' events of the history of the city.

Those who perform these activities will be given the comic 'In times of the wise king'.

In the Museum of Science and Water, the inauguration of a collection point of second-hand books, in collaboration with Traperos de Emmaus, a scientific gymkana in which there will be different challenges and a children's planetarium, as well as various conferences .

On the other hand, in the Ramón Gaya will happen different activities like realization of portraits, concerts, workshops ...

Thus, as a novelty, on Thursday, May 18 and Friday, May 19, in the morning and afternoon, will be held 'Retratando' in which different artists will perform portraits in the Plaza de Santa Catalina so that attendees can check what is The process of creating this type of painting.

On Saturday night all the portraits will be exhibited.

The Almudí Palace will open in a special schedule on Saturday from 18 to 24 hours and at 20 hours there will be a show of muisca and dance of the cultural association Hazzart.

For its part, at the Casa del Belén this day at 7 pm will open the exhibition 'Dialogues with Miguel' by Patricia Gómez;

At 20 hours there will be a concert of Fictoría Quarter while at 9 pm there will be a special concert of Pepe's Old Sax and Organ Trio at 9 pm.
