The mayor José Ballesta presents this afternoon the project in a participatory act in which the neighbors will raise their proposals for improvement for the hamlet.
The new building will occupy an area of ​​2,000 m2 which has been structured into two separate areas.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the pedestrian mayor of Beniaján and members of the municipal corporation will hold this afternoon a participatory meeting with the inhabitants of the hamlet where they will present the project of the new Library and Cultural Center, an event to which Is expected to attend numerous neighbors who will take the floor to raise their proposals for improvement on different issues.
Cultural spaces will be built in a new building, which will be developed on a single floor to ensure universal accessibility.
The building will be built on a site of municipal ownership located between the streets Francisco Noguera, Institute and San Valentin (very close to the Auditorium of Beniaján) and will occupy an area of ​​2.000 m2 which has been structured into two separate areas: one for the Library And another as Cultural Center.
There will also be a shared area of ​​common uses that will house an auditorium (which can also be used as a multipurpose room) with a stage that will connect with the dressing room and dance hall of the Cultural Center, including also a reception room And toilets.
The Library will have its own lobby for access control and the loan and consultation of the catalog.
It will have an area of ​​newspaper library connected to the three reading rooms provided: juvenile-adult, children's and study room 24 hours, with independent entrance from the public thoroughfare, to be operative throughout the day.
It will also have a media library enabled for computer use.
For its part, the Cultural Center will have a distributor hall that gives access to the dance classroom and three classrooms-workshop.
In addition, it will have a storage area for the material and two dressing rooms with toilet that will connect with the stage of the general hall.
The building will have a central open patio, intended to illuminate the interior areas and different uses.
In addition, a tree-lined plaza is projected on the northeast facade, the main access to the building, and perimetral sidewalks will be constructed.
In total, the action between the building and urbanized perimeter area will affect more than 3,300 m2.
This project promoted by the Councils of Education and Culture of the City of Murcia has a budget of 1.9 million euros and a term of execution of 12 months.
The Board of Governors has already approved the contract specifications.
The new building replaces the previous building that was disused due to damage in the structure of the same, expanding the space for cultural activities and multiplying by 10, as it moves from 214 m2 to a new center of more than 2,000 m2.
Public facilities at the service of neighbors
Beniaján has a population of 11,000 neighbors, but the new infrastructure will also be able to give service to users of nearby districts of the South Cordillera like San Jose de la Vega, Los Dolores, Los Garres, Torreagüera and Los Ramos.
As for the rest of public facilities, Beniaján has, in the areas of social welfare and health, two Women's Centers, a Social Center for Elderly, a Social Work Unit and a Conciliation Center of the Family and Work Life, as well as a Health Center.
As for the educational facilities, the village adds two schools for children, four centers for children and primary education and the institute of the hamlet.
Sports facilities include two soccer fields (ground and artificial turf) and a sports court.
