Rumí Ensemble arrives at the Festival Murcia Tres Culturas to showcase the new classical scene in traditional Iranian music (15/05/2017)

The Plaza de los Apóstoles will host next Wednesday, May 17, at 9 pm, and within the Festival Murcia Tres Culturas, the performance of the group Rumí Ensemble composed of prestigious musicians belonging to different European and Persian cultural traditions and using the Traditional Iranian music instruments such as santur, ney, lute, tonbak, daf, kuze accompanied by other classical instruments such as violin, viola, cello and double bass.

Representing the vanguard of the new classical scene in traditional Iranian music, the musicians of Rumí Ensemble combine important innovative musical skills with a great sense of classicism and interpretation.

This international orchestra whose works are basically related to classical Sufi poets, especially inspired by the famous Sufi poet and mystic Yalaludin Rumi (13th century), is made up of excellent musicians with a long professional career and with the experience of numerous performances in different parts of the world.

The Ensemble was created in 2007, declared by UNESCO the "Year of Yalaludín Rumí".

The formation, directed by the composer and interpreter of the santur Javid Afsari Rad, is composed of prestigious musicians who belong to different cultural traditions such as Persian and European, a characteristic that gives it an enormous intercultural value.

Santur, ney, lute, tonbak, daf, kuze are the Persian instruments that can be heard at Ensemble concerts, usually accompanied by other classical instruments such as violin, viola, cello and double bass.

Javid Afsari Rad is the founder and director of Ensemble Rumi, an Iranian composer who was nominated as "Composer of the Year 2007" by Radio Norway Television as well as "Artist of the Year 2008" by the Oslo City Council, mainly for his dedication to the intercultural.

Javid's illustrious career includes solo performances at major world music festivals in Germany, India, Brazil, South Africa and the Netherlands, as well as group work with world-class musicians such as Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Dr. L. Subramaniam, among others.

Javid has composed soundtracks for movies and theater.

The fabulous symphonic work performed by the Norwegian RTV Symphony Orchestra (Oslo 2006) highlighted the creativity of Javid Afsari Rad.

This work composed by 8 pieces is a tour in the repertoire of traditional music and Iranian folklore.
