A unique journey for the art of the XX century of the hand of the teachers murcianos (10/05/2017)

The Almudí Palace hosts a selection of 43 works by artists such as Ramón Gaya, Almela Costa, Muñoz Barberán, José María Párraga, Pedro Cano, Ángel Haro and the sculptor Antonio Campillo.

It is a collective exhibition that traces the plastic history of the twentieth century by the best regional artists, with works from the Caja Mediterráneo Social Work collection

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the president of the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation, Antonio Rubira, and the vice-president of the organization, Clemente García, presented today the exhibition 'Art and patronage.

A collection of regional art ', an exhibition that houses the Palacio Almudí composed of 43 works by Murcia artists.

It is an exquisite selection that covers the plastic history of 38 of the best regional artists of the twentieth century, and which are part of the collection acquired by the Obra Social Caja Mediterráneo and its predecessors throughout their more than 140 years of existence.

The mayor described this exhibition as "a journey through the best of the fine arts of the twentieth century, which states that all the great currents of universal art are present in the art of our Region, whose highest precursors endow it with a look of its own, Heir of the unique idiosyncrasy of the people of Murcia "and stressed" the essential role of Caja Mediterráneo's Social Work as patron of the art of Murcia, the fruit of a long legacy of efforts and generosity. "

It is a staggered exhibition that begins with the painters of the Generation of the 27, artists that emparentaron with the first Spanish avant-garde such as Luis Garay, Pedro Flores, Ramón Gaya, Almela Costa, Juan Bonafé, and the National prize Antonio Gómez Cano, among others.

The oldest work to be exhibited is 'La Jardinera', painted by Wssel in 1901. Among the painters of the Generation of the 27th and those of the postwar era, Antonio Gómez Cano acts as a nexus of union.

It shows 'Landscape of Albudeite'.

The exhibition continues with the murcian painting of post-war, where you can see works by Mariano Ballester -'Puente impresionista'- mural mural by Hernández Carpe -'Puente viejo'-, Muñoz Barberán with his post-impressionist language -'La tower Catedra 'and' La Collegiata de San Patricio '- as well as Manolo Avellaneda, among others of his time.

Then the sample goes into the painting of the painters who lived in the Murcia of the 60's, where we have pieces of Ángel Hernansáer, José María Párraga or Pina Nortes, a costumbrista painter who shaped in his canvases traditions and personages of a Murcia Ancestral as he did on that beautiful canvas of El Desperfollo.

The exhibition continues with a tour of art that was done in the 70's and early 80's with creations by Pedro Cano, Sánchez Basilio and José Lucas;

Later to enter in the painting of cut more abstract, pertaining to the last time of the 80 with works of Carmelo Trenado, Angel Haro and Nico Munuera.

They conclude the graphic part of Esteban Campuzano, Antonio Ballester, Chelete Monereo and Paco Níguez, among others.

In an exhibition he could not miss a representation of the school of Murcian sculpture, an artistic expression that has as main architects González Moreno, García Mengual, Manolo Ardil, Hernández Cano and Antonio Campillo.

The exhibition can be visited from tomorrow, May 11, until next July 16.

The presentation ceremony was also attended by the Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, and the curator of the exhibition, Martín Páez.
