Eduardo Paniagua and the cantigas to Murcia open the XVIII Festival Murcia Three Cultures (10/05/2017)

The next Friday, May 12, at 9.30 pm in the Plaza de los Apóstoles, will start the XVIII edition of the Festival Murcia Tres Culturas with the interpretation of the Cantigas de Murcia by Eduardo Paniagua.

On the occasion of the closing of the celebration of the 750th anniversary of the constitution of the council of Murcia by King Alfonso X El Sabio, a space is dedicated to this event, in relation to the work of Alfonso X, such as the cantigas, and the Music in medieval times in Spain, enhancing the spirit of tolerance, coexistence and cultural diversity, in addition to the merely commemorative.

'The heart of Alfonso X' by Eduardo Paniagua is a selection of songs that bring together those whose narration happens in Murcia, such as the temple of the Arrixaca and the oath before Santa Maria de Murcia, and other songs that tell the feelings (The heart) of the king, in his reflection and prayer to Saint Mary, in matters of government, social and family.

It completes the program with cantigas that happen during the conquest of Murcia and the uprising of Mudejar in the wars of Granada.

In this concert will be presented the edition of the CD 'Cantigas de Murcia.

The heart of Alfonso X ', co-produced by Pneuma and the City of Murcia, within the integral recording of the songs,

And supposes a musical gold finish to the celebration of the 750 anniversary of the constitution of the council of Murcia by Alfonso X.

Eduardo Paniagua received the 2009 Music Classical Award from the Spanish Academy of Music and the UFI 2013, MIN 2014 and 2015 Classical Music Awards (Unión Fonográfica Independiente).

He is an architect and specialist in music in medieval Spain.

Founding member of the Atrium Musicae and Cálamus groups, he specializes in Arabic - Andalusian music.

In 1994 he created the groups Música Antigua and Ibn Báya, for the musical work on the songs of Alfonso X and the Andalusian music respectively.

He founded and directed the record label Pneuma with which he began to publish his musical productions.
