The International Day of the Family will turn the Silk Garden of Murcia into a festival for all audiences once more (10/05/2017)

The Silk Garden will become the meeting place next Sunday to celebrate the International Day of the Family.

An event that is organized by the Council of Social Rights together with the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and in collaboration with associations and NGOs.

A morning that will bring together parents, children and children in a playful and festive encounter, with activities specially prepared for the fun and the leisure of the little ones.

From 10 in the morning until noon, attendees will be able to enjoy creative workshops, crafts, ballooning, sign language or musical and dance performances, all enlivened by animators and monitors who will be responsible for making the children enjoy themselves. Participate.

This year, in addition the Canine Unit of the National Police Corps will make an exhibition at 11:00 a.m.

During the presentation, the Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, who has been accompanied by the General Director of Family, Veronica López, explained that "it is a question of putting the family as a social nucleus as the basic nucleus of our society, in a Day full of entertainment and surprises to enjoy the outdoors of this marked date.

The International Day of the Family is celebrated every year on May 15, 1994, after the date of the previous year was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations, echoing the importance that the international community attaches to the family.

Associations that participate

In this edition there are 38 stands, which have been placed in the Silk Garden for participating associations.

Thus, they will be present from the Platform of the third sector, the Family Forum, Columbares, La Huertecica, ONCE, Cepaim, Aspanpal, Feaes, Astrapace, Fade, Asprodes, entities such as Famdif, Adahi, Scouts de Murcia or Acofamt.

The last edition was 15 participating associations so doubling the attendance on this occasion.

It is therefore a propitious opportunity to promote awareness and a better understanding of the social, economic and demographic processes that affect this important nucleus of society.

Actions from Social Rights

From the City of Murcia there are many lines of action that, not only through the Department of Social Rights but from different portfolios, are promoted to facilitate the day to day of families.

For example, large families have numerous bonuses and tax exemptions or free interurban transportation.

There are also actions to support the family and its social care, the schooling of children and their education, measures to encourage leisure and free time in the family, participation and rights of children or the protection of minors.

#MiFamiliaMurciana Campaign

This year, in addition to the activities that will take place on Sunday, the campaign #MiFamiliaMurciana in social networks like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram is launched.

It begins today and ends next May 31 and is promoted by the students of advertising and audiovisual, the Faculty of Communication of the University of Murcia, and belonging to the association Judoc.

With this it is intended that Murcia families show their surroundings and the people around them.

In addition, the winning photo will be awarded.
