The first phase of the Container Burial Plan will be carried out this summer (09/05/2017)

41.6% of Murcia say they have noticed improvement in road cleaning in the last year |

The Department of Development, directed by Roque Ortiz, is going to carry out a comprehensive plan of burial of a hundred containers at strategic points of the urban centers of Murcia and districts thanks to which will hide a hundred containers.

The first phase of this global plan, which will be carried out in the summer, will allow to bury the four-point containers of the historic center, which will be added to the areas where the great urban remodeling actions of the Town Hall will be carried out, such as Avenida Alfonso X, San Esteban, Santa Eulalia, Old Prison and other projects that will carry their own cleaning annex.

Thus, in the street Madre de Dios will proceed to the burial of the current containers on the surface and also expanding its capacity with four containers for the collection of solid urban waste and a container.

In Plaza Cetina, the existing double container will be expanded with another of the same characteristics of two container points and two of urban solid waste.

These two actions will be undertaken thanks to the intervention of the Civic Brigades in the development of their functions of surveillance and prevention as they revealed the lack of capacity that often occurs in these points.

Pinares street will carry out the burial of the current surface containers (5 of urban solid waste, one of containers and one of paper) as there is a large concentration of containers in this area.

Finally in the Plaza Santa Catalina will install a new double underground container of solid urban waste, thus alleviating the need for capacity due to the large concentration of hotel business existing in the environment.

The councilman explained that container burial, besides improving the image of the public highway, eliminates the visual impact of traditional containers, reduces the inconvenience with containers more comfortable to use and less noisy in their discharge, and offers more space to pedestrians.

This action is framed designed a Strategic Plan 2017-2019 with new actions of road cleaning and that is included in the continuation of the initiative 'No seas marrano', under the motto 'There are still a few but they are noticed a lot' and will allow to bury the Containers in emblematic environments of Murcia and districts.

Ortiz has indicated that "the collaboration of all is essential and nothing will serve the burial, the public money invested and the campaigns of shock or recycling if we are not aware that we must all care that Murcia is clean."
